I saw her "performance" when it happened...I was
just, like "stop and play another freaking song for
god's sake...just start again...you are a live singer
and band...right?" Anyway, this was hilarious. I like
how you choose to use the word "are" instead of
is...like Ashley Simpson is a word to describe a
"type"...anyway that's what I got out of it. Your
choice of generic chord changes appropriately reflect
so many copycat songs today...and the do-be-bop-
be-do-be scatting was just the icing on the cake...

ouch!! really great job poomeister-meisterpoo! vocals
aren't bad at all-just wish they were a little LOUDER. the
words 'lyrical genius' are coming to mind for some reason.
i liked the 'boo biddy bops' at the end there :D

It's funny cause its true! Just cause she's Jessica's sister...
soon it wouldn't suprise me if they started trying to make
their cousins stars. It's hilarious. That 'hit' song 'she'
wrote, "Pieces of Me" was actually written mostly by
someone else... it should be called "Pieces of my Manager"
or something..

Anyway... the song is funny.. I'm glad you made it, I hope
it somehow finds its way to Ashley's ears.

mean, ashLEE. sounds just like it's written right? well that
makes sense. geez, if we write it like it's normally written,
her fans will be like, ash-lay? oh no. that sounds too

I don't know nuthin bout the "events" you refer to....don't
have a TV.....I live in a rarified world of Phantom and my
Airstream trailer, and creating my own music.

Obviously I don't get out much and am pretty un-hip, at
that.

But this is STILL funny, the lyrics speak an unfortunate
truth about today's glam society, literally making
something (or the ILLUSION of something) from nothing.

Love the song art. I sure hope you're over the flu by now.

Aside from the clever lyrics, I really like your voice. Such a
straightforward, warm, honest voice. You should sing
more often! The Simpson are wonderful stereotypes and
your treating them like icons was really well done irony.
Great fun and nicely done.

Don't worry--I find many different outlets for my talents (thanks by the
way).

My inspiration was wanting to write a song about something I felt very
strongly about. Being in the music business (okay, I worked at a CD
store for 7 years) I grew sick of certain people getting fast-tracked into
stardom while other, hard-working, infinitely more talented artists
worked
their asses off to break even. So, needless to say, seeing Ashlee's over-
exposure on tv and subsequent top'o'the charts single, caused a
passionate reaction in me.

I caught 10 minutes of her show. In it she was getting ready for her first
live performance. She was doing a sound check with her new band. At
this time her single was out, her album was recorded and her video was
done as well. AND SHE HAD NOT YET PERFORMED IN FRONT OF PEOPLE.
EVER.

Something is very wrong there.

Much better than any of her stuff, and the lyrics are
gospel! I especially liked the scatting at the end -- and
like the line "You were never meant to sing in front of the
world" right before the chorus... nice. props to your wife,
as well.

This is great. Alanfraser should pull his head out of his ar$e if he thinks that fake musicians aren't a legitimate target for real musicians' talents. Besides - it's not a vitriolic attack on her, more the system that allows people like her to get onto TV and into the charts.

The only things I wopuld change would be the line
"are the sister of a real star" to "sister of another fake star"
because Jessica is as hokey and lame as bad candy. They are both so useless. Maybe a few funny sound effects like puke sound when you say puke. Some cash registers ringing during "commerical selling..
