Description
Haven't posted anything in ages because of work, and don't have a lot of time to write/record these days. SO, here's a Christmas song I recorded today for the holidays. Couldn't spend a lot of time perfecting it unfortunately - would have liked to try a couple more vocal takes and maybe master it a little better - but I hope you enjoy it anyway... Merry Christmas!

Lyrics
God rest ye merry, gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember Christ our Savior
Was born on Christmas Day
To save us all from Satan's power
When we were gone astray
O tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy

From God our heavenly Father
A blessed angel came
And unto certain shepherds
Brought tiding of the same
How that in Bethlehem was born
The Son of God by name

"Fear not, then," said the angel
"Let nothing you affright
This day is born a Savior
Of a pure virgin bright
To free all those who trust in him
From Satan's power and might."

Now to the Lord sing praises
All you within this place
And with true love and brotherhood
Each other now embrace
this holy tide of Christmas
Doth bring redeeming grace

Great take
I never realized the lyrics to this. Really like the style you chose. Like the human aspect of your voice.

Ridd, excellent job on this. I could see this used as a soundtrack to an edgy dark Christmas movie. Well done.

Cool rendition
I really like your chord changes and treatment of this standard carol. You made it unique.

I'm sorry, but I like your version better than
mine. As others have said, it has a very human quality to it that reminds me of Sufjian Stevens holiday offereings.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
very cool version. I agree with illuminati in that its human sounding in all its elements. Soulful and just slightly edgy (something I love about it).

well look what the cat dragged in
The lo-fi approach works. Take the glitz and commercialism out of Christmas and put the focus back where it belongs. The feel of this is perfect. Good to hear from you again. Hope things clear up for you so you can start entertaining us again. Be well and Merry Christmas to you, too!

No rest for the wicked
Great take on this and really like the way you hang back till the last verse for everything to come in.

great version
my wife and i make fun of those pop christmas albums, KORN sings "away in a manger" lol but this is a very nice straight ahead rendition that uses your contemporary and unique perspective to wring a new listen out of a much played tune. love the plaintive vocals. have to admit i was ready for you to blast away at the end and was surprised when you didn't. the organ is a cool touch.
