Description
This was written about me and how much time I can spend online, but I’m sure many others can relate to it. I meant to post it weeks ago, when the “grass was still green,” but you know how that goes... I hope you enjoy our little collab!

Roxylee- lyrics, vocals, Garageband bass
Dadai2 (Jack) – new LP guitar
Awigze (Andy) –sax, vocals
Nathaniel (grandson)-vocals

Lyrics
I pried my fingers off the coffee stained keyboard
Went outside for a walk the other day
(made myself do it)
Got my circulation moving, cleared my head
I've been sitting her so long...
(well, you know what I mean)
I stepped outside to see the sky-
was a glorious blue,
and the grass was still green

You know, maybe you’re not really going insane
It could be something simple, like
You need to turn off the electronics
(step away from the screen)

You know you’re up to your armpits in email,
eBay, blogs, chat, Twitter, (coff) MacJams
Myspace my Facebook and all that,
and all the stats, pokes and surveys…
Ya just might need a little sunshine!

Did you go for a walk?
But the most important question is:
Did you take your iPod with you?
(oh, dang- I forgot myiPod)

I hope no. I sincerely hope not.
You need nature, nature,
Nuthin biut nature, the trees,
the sun, the clouds, the wind in your hair
And when you come back,
You’ll be so relaxed,
Well, that’s my advice-
For what it’s worth….

(Gramma, can we go outside and play now?
(Just a minute, Nathaniel,
I’m almost finished with this song)

Brilliant song writing...
Roxylee. Andy, you nailed it on this one. Kudos saxman. The song mix sounds real good RL... another one for your best of.

Thanks to you,
Jack, for your mixing suggestions. I tend to crowd the people in the room, and you reminded me that three musicians can't occupy the same space at the same time. Your guitar work is excellent, and your friendship means a lot. Thank you for being a part of this.:-)

POIFECT!
Not just the sentiment, which I totally agree with (and have the battle myself too, [coff]macjams...) but Roxylee, your singing/talking is always so silky smooth. Jack, your work on guitar is beautiful here, classy jazzy blues. And Andy, the sax work here is sublime... melts into all the cracks expertly, and adds the perfect accents. I love it just as it is, including the cameo grandson appearance at the end, just like a dollop of whipped cream on pumpkin pie. Super well put together, everyone!

Wow, we got a poifect from Drak!
Coming from the one with the very discerning ear, this really makes me smile. Thanks to Jack's suggestions, the mix was fixed. He and Andy flavored this up so nicely that I'm really glad I asked them to play on this. I thank you, my friend, for prodding me gently to open up Garageband 4 years ago.

Second song
I've heard this Sunday morning that is, well, not so happy (Monkaton's latest). Both of you, though, hit on realities many of us face in this crazy age we live in. The recitative style you've selected for this little number was the perfect choice: it gets across a sort of stark reality that you present in the lyrics. I love the sax solo—so mournful and evocative of the sad state you are trying to portray. And the line about the iPod: I am that person, sadly, taking frequent walks but never without my electronic device. I gotta try it solo one of these days if I can "just pry my fingers off the coffee stained keyboard." ... This is a thoughtful number. (Now I'll try to recover for the rest of the day.)

Roxylee said 2838 days ago (December 13th, 2009)
Oh, dear...
and I was trying to be whimsical, even though the message can be true for many of us. I was mostly thinking of myself at the time, realizing I always have some kind of sound on- iTunes, MJ, radio, tv, my loud thoughts. It's all too easy to minimize the importance of just being still and enjoying God's creation without adding distraction. I'm sorry this one bummed you out, yet you might like walking sometimes without the manmade music in your ears. No guilt, just something different to try. :-)

I really really
like this song! Roxy's high vocal range is shining and the words are spectacular ! The guitar sound terrific ! Sax is amazingly soulful. This is one of the best i've heard of this style here at Mj. And I think the amazing thing is the reason for that it hits to the point of my obsessiveness to computer creativity, especially in music. It truly can be addictive and when you feel you got something going in your music and you really feel it's clicking you hate to give it up. You want to do everything NOW! When in fact creativity and be heighten by doing what this song so acutely promotes.

This is a must hear for so many that suffer from computer-obsessive-compulsiveness in which I am guilty.

Thanks Roxy, Dadai, Awigze and Nathaniel for making this available for us to hear !
