Description
This song started as a planned Dynamite Van Pipe track to be completed with Craig Thomas (Tempie). I initially laid down the rhythm guitar, bass and drums with the view of Craig writing and singing. Whilst mixing the music we decided it might be an opportunity for my voice and Craig's guitar to feature on a DVP track and so I set to work on the lyrics and laying down a vocal.
In the meantime Craig was going to work on guitar parts and backing vox. Whilst waiting for his guitar parts I started playing around with an "infinite guitar" type lead sound which you hear on this version and the song came together as it is now. Craig heard it and decided he liked my version and felt he couldn't add anything to it that he felt could bring the song forward, so we agreed I would release it as is.
I'm very happy with the overall sound, especially the drums. This is only the 3rd or 4th time that I've not used high quality loops and instead played the drums via midi. On this occasion rather than use my Korg NanoPAD to input the drum beats I've played them live using a PS3 Rock Band usb drum accessory - I'm really pleased with how that's worked out.
The infinite guitar sound was played on my Epiphone Dot Studio with reverb set to maximum and a little echo in GB 09's guitar amp simulator.

Lyrics
Looking down at the city lights,
I can still taste your skin
Hungry for that new way of life
I feel the passion within
You know that...
I'd like to know,
I'd like to know what makes you tick.
Reaching out for the stars,
I'm hoping things will come again
I taste the spice upon your lips
I feel the pain inside again
I'd like to know,
I'd like to know what makes you tick.
I'd really like to know,
I'd really like to know what makes you tick.
I can still taste your skin
Hungry for that new way of life
I feel the passion within
You know that...
I'd like to know,
I'd like to know what makes you tick.
Reaching out for the stars,
I'm hoping things will come again
I taste the spice upon your lips
I feel the pain inside again
I'd like to know,
I'd like to know what makes you tick.
I'd really like to know,
I'd really like to know what makes you tick.
