Description:
Where did it all go wrong? I suppose I'd describe this piece as a Music Hall Punk Soap Opera - I guess. The lyric started out as a joke for mothers day. Any likeness to persons real or fictitious is pure coincidence, just a bit of fun - honestly, mum! :-)
Lyrics:
yeah - i know my mum is very special - that's what the people say, but no-one's seen the old bird in quite a while now, nah - not since she was put away. the men in white came one day, she had froth upon her face. she kicked, she spat and hissed at them - as they dragged her from this place. [this is a fucked up world] yeah yeah - i know people say i'm like my mum - in loads of ways. yeah - i steal, i swear and i've got curly hair and i'll turn tricks coz it pays! next week the parole board meets to decide my mother's fate [yeah yeah yeah] and if all goes well she leaves her cell and bernard - her lesbian lover [this is a fucked up world] and i could blame her for all my faults [she's a mental], but that is something i refuse [she's a mental], coz there's no fate but what we make* [she's a mental] and life is something we must choose [yeah].*thanks to james cameron

This is one of the most fun "my mom is f*cked up"
songs I've heard. I always like horns when they are
used in this way... and the interjected dialogue "get
off me, you..." was great.
Pie
gotta admit i either want to punch this worlds lights out or laff my arse off at it. This one is when I was laffing :-) cheers for the feedback.

This is a great song... real pro sounding. I like all the
elements in this track. Great lyrics, and vocals.

very enjoyable, not the usual song content! I would rate it
even higher (and this is just my opinion) if it held together
just that wee bit more, as it is pretty disjointed. There
were a couple of nice guitar riffs/solo's that I wanted more
of. Loved the voices of the guys taking your mum away,
and the happy-happy tweety birds at the end.
Excellent.
Pie
sorry 'bout the 'disjointed' - must be the Dream Theater in me. thanks for your opinions :-)

I liked the bouncy, upbeat tempo of this song.
Wacky lyrics and great vocals, almost buried in this busy,
wonderful mix.
Very well done, a lot of interesting things goin on. Good
guitar playing! The brass swells were also excellent, added
a lot of energy to the track.

fun ride! Thanks!

What a fantastic song. Great concept, great music, fun
funny and dark. Love it through and through. I have to
disagree with the negative comment about disjointedness.
I think the disjointedness works very well with the lyrics.
And, of course, thanks to James Cameron.
...a bit of "Squeeze" or "Split Enz"... but with a little more
edge. Very well performed and produced. Could you give
us a little more insight as to "who you are" on your bio
page (please)?

i vote 3.1416 across the boards!
sounds like Mr.Bungle and Baby Snufkin's love child.
fantastic story telling.
it has a good beat and you can la la to it!

Totally cool. Love the vocals, the horn stabs, all the
voices and clips, and everything meshing so flawlessly.
Great vocal performances. The whistled cradle falling at
the end is a brilliant touch. Expertly cool track.

Almost thought it was to Brit to be true especially when I
saw Ty-phoo Tea bags, but if you aren't british you've
done a good job. Kind of like "the Streets" but with with a
real band. And a better tune.
Kushty..
Pie
of course I am - although it was close run thing between Ty-Phoo and PG Tips :-)

Good job on everything...

Great stuff....reminds me of "Squeeze"....good horn work..
Very imaginative production. Very professional sounding mix. Love the horns. Thought some of the backing vocals were a little too thin. Great guitar breakdown at the interlude. Enjoyed it very much. Thanks for sharing. 8888

sounds........i enjoyed it much!!!!

like a punk era Hollies with some 80s neuvo swing. your voice sometimes reminds me of Graham Nash, one of my favorites all time. so radio ready, CD on the way. totally cool. a perfect track.
spending all that time in your room fiddling has paid off eh !
(Parklife Madness) / Pie = good work

This is friggin' great! I love it! Some of the most solid
pro-sounding stuff here.
markbaby
Liked this a lot ... traces of Blur running into Madness. This is a great demo of what can be done at home - excellent sound, v.good orchestration and structuring. Really enjoyed listening to the whole thing
Kevin Apgar
Pie, I love it. This song is just too much fun. I'm seeing it as a bit of the old Mighty Mighty Bosstones infused with Blur. Great job. Looking forward to more like it.
I love this tune. I am glad I discovered it thanks to your
comment on one of my pieces. Thanks!!!
blacksalad
I like the la la la bit! great tune!

funny, very funny, and ur tallented too! and of course ur
british, so theres a good start! im liking it.
Not sure I like this one categorized as Pop. Sorry to be
brutally honest. It has some fine moments but I don't
think it's cohesive as a whole. A great deal of shock value
in there, to be sure. I'll have to give this a few spins to get
used to it. Guitars come in a little too soft at the 3/4
mark. Really nice horns. I will draw inspiration from some
parts but not from the whole.
Pie
I agree about the genre - kinda. I really struggled as to what genre to stick
this one under. Any suggestions? It's got a bit of rock, punk and comedy. In
the end I figured any song that features La La La La's has to be a contender
for pop. If anyone has got any other suggestions - feel free.

Tear them up, mothers inside us all. Ah! I'm not becomng my father, like I feared, but my mother! Give me more pills, I must be bleeding somehwere... (What a great track you have made, btw.)
Extraordinarily well done.
jimid
I'm sending this to my mom now!

Gotta be one of the best I've heard. Definitely a crowd
pleaser.
"...and bernard - her lesbian lover" That line cracked me
up!
All I can say is: so well done.
In the immortal words of Cartman: "Gimme some Pie!"

This is way original and absolutely enjoyable! Great
performance, writing and production. You rock my friend.

Many times I am adding songs to iTunes and I spend way
to long thinking about how to classify the tracks. Bands
life Fishbone, for example are impossible to nail down in
one or two words. Mr. Bungle also hard. This awesome
tracks sounds more like the latter, which I classify as Ska-
Funk-Punk. Kinda lame, but gets the job done so I can
move on.
J.A.Stewart
Excellent production and delivery with a quirky
soundscape that provides a perfect setting for a journey
into the throes of lunacy on-holiday.
While others' Squeeze comparisons are apt, I'm thinking
this song could have been written and performed by the
ultra-quirky Mr. Alex Harvey.
Very nicely done!
aclarke
You changed the song art!
alanfraser
Very cool arrangement. Highly nutsy lyrics. All the way out there. I
thought it was great!
j2morrow
Really an enjoyable song. Weird lyrics, great tune. Liked the birds and
whistling at the end, a nice twist from all before.

my regards concerning the subject matter, but you express it with
such style :-) The vocals are stellar, especially the way
you put them together , very fu'd excellent. Really innovative
writing, from the horn, overall creativity deluge, and the nature sounds to calm me down afterwords. just frighteningly great stuff

god, you're good
