My Xmas No.1

Description
After watching all the stuff about the campaign to NOT have an X factor winner at xmas No.1 by buying Rage Against the Machine's 'Killing in the name' and then after I heard Chris de Burgh with his awful attempt for a xmas single I thought I'd get me oar in.
This must be the fastest song I've ever done. I got the riff and the chorus last night and have spent nearly all day getting it down.
I know I won't beat RATM ..or the X factor winner ( Joe somebody) but what the heck.
Maybe next year ;-)
Enjoy and merry xmas.
And thanks to the Missus for helping out with some of the lyrics
And thanks to Ben Boldt for his choir sound.

Lyrics
I sat down to write a song
Just the other day
One that gets played every year
and never goes away

To get your uncle dancing
and give the kids some fun
with great joy I bring to you
my xmas No.1

Xmas No.1
My xmas No.1
Jingle bells and Grandma smells
my xmas No.1

Xmas No.1
My xmas No.1
Santa’s riding into town
and Rudolph says let’s all get down

I want to get in the charts
with Wizzard, Slade and Cliff
so I got my old guitar
and I came up with this riff

It’s not that complicated
so you can sing along
so deck the halls and all join in
my xmas No.1

Xmas No.1
My xmas No.1
Jingle bells and Grandad smells
my xmas No.1

Xmas No.1
My xmas No.1
Santa’s riding into town
and Rudolph says let’s all get down

Children singing
Cash tills ringing
Full of xmas cheer

We’ll get through it
and we’ll do it
all again next year

Xmas No.1
My xmas No.1
Jingle bells and Batman smells
my xmas No.1

Xmas No.1
My xmas No.1
Santa’s riding into town
and Rudolph says let’s all get down

Toe Tappers
If I got your toe tappin I'm happy.
So many xmas songs are slow and a bit dirgey.
Wanted to put the rock back into xmas

Christmas No. 1
This is fun and I like the child backup singer idea. Cute. PS - don't let grandma or grandpa here this.

Thanks
I'm more worried about Batman hearing this.
He doesn't like people knowing he smells ;-)
The childs voice is just me with the 'helium voice' preset in GB as you can never get a choir of kids when you need one.
Thanks for dropping in and glad you liked it
cheers

My Xmas No.1
an immediate classic now for my ipod playlist for Xmass morning.

eggnog
I don't think I've ever had eggnog. Must give it a go.
I did have to have a few glasses of wine to soothe my throat after singing this...well, that's MY excuse anyway ;-)
Thanks for your comments and dropping in
cheers

Joe who?
I know, he couldn't even write his own song..they had to give him an old Miley Cirus song.
Anyway, very glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in

Rockin' round the Christmas Tree
great tune and nicely churlish for the humbuggers out there. Love the down and dirty production.
Check out my latest song called Interdependence
kingbee said 2866 days ago (December 18th, 2009)
Thanks Bud
I could have taken longer over the mix but wanted to get it done...before 2010.
I'm probably one of the worst humbuggers but can still write xmas songs.
Blame Chris de Burgh. His new xmas song was such a load of drivel I had to get something a bit more rocking and fun written.
Anyway, thanks for dropping in and your comments
cheers

dude this is utter shit
a spot-on parody of everything that is depressing and stupid about christianity and the consumer exploitation of it. if you were famous then there'd be a long line of chavs outside WH SMith in Dover...waiting to buy a copy. pure garbage. i have to turn it off now before i cut off my ears with a pair of rusty gardening shears. well done.

I'll take that as a compliment ;-)
Stay away from those rusty gardening shears.

Xmas No.1
Not too bad for No. 1!! I would shorten the into though and get into the vocal quicker. I'd put harmony on the
"Children singing
Cash tills ringing"
ETC.
All 'n all a very good Christmas song.
Check out my latest song called JESSICA
kingbee said 2866 days ago (December 18th, 2009)
Rush job
But not too bad for a rush job, eh?
Slade recorded 'here it is merry xmas' in the summer so they had loads of time to sort out stuff.
I wrote mine in a day !! ;-)
When I release it next year for the 'proper xmas charts I'll get the harmonies in ;-)
Thanks for dropping in and your comments
cheers

Seventies Glam Fun!
You should really mine this talent of yours for glam rock! The guitar just holding off the beat is pure glam. Excellent stuff.

Glitter ball
I don't know why but I'm going through a bit of a Glam phase at the moment even though I remember how daft and silly it all was it was still foot stomping fun.
Glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in

You could try fusing glam with other forms of music - like glam techno, or glam grime or even glam rap!!

Right up there.
This is a blast. Right up there with "Grandma got run-over by a Reindeer".

This really ought to be included in the next version of the movie "Home Alone part????"

Thanks for this xmas jam, it works well with the rum & brandy laced egg-nog.

With Bells on!
KB, this could be too post-modern for the charts, but then people never listen to the lyrics anyway! Glam rock lives on!
Check out my latest song called Heaven is Waiting

a first
That's the first time I've been called 'post modern'
I knew I was 'post' something but wasn't sure what it was ;-)

Not usually up for the holiday songs, but I can appreciate one done well. Very nice song, and good hook to boot. And, of course, you can't go wrong with "grandma smells." lol Thanks for sharing.
