Description
2nd of 10 "Off the cuff" songs I wrote just before the great flood. (I was caught in the flood of the century here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa back in June of 08. Had to re-build my house.) White light was the 4th. So far I have only recorded 4 of the 10.
for these songs all I did was turn on a drum machine and played and sang what ever popped into my head. The finished song is basically the same as the Off the cuff version. Bass and lead Guitar and a little percussion were the only additional parts
It's such a simple song. Hope you like it

Lyrics
I been waiting too long
I been waiting too long
here in this little old town
Waiting for you

I been looking around
all over this town
I been looking around
For you

I know you are here
I feel you are near

I been waiting too long
I been waiting too long
here in this little old town
Waiting for you

............

I been looking around
all over this town
I been looking around
For you

You make me cry
You make me cry
You put a tear in my eye
For you

I waited a long long time
And I'll wait until the time is right.

Thanks so much Feter.
When I recorded the 10 songs from this collection I did 7 in the afternoon and 3 more that night. I thought at the end of the night session that it didn't go very well. But this song and White Light were 2 of the 3 and as it often goes after they sat around for a day or so I thought these 2 had some possibility. I'm so very glad you liked it.

A very different feel from the last...
I am sensing some versatility in your style here :-) Nicely played and sung... simple, maybe, but cohesive and solid songwriting.

Ugh, rebuilding your house? Hope things are settling back down now! Glad you're recording again, thanks for dropping in!

Thanks Drakonis
I try to be different for every song I do but still I tend to have a distinctive style that shows over all. I'm sure that's true with most. White Light was more the "odd" song I have written lately.
I had some fun rebuilding my house because it was quite a challenge and something I had never done before but we also had a lot of volunteer help this summer. I would not be done if not for them.

Very nice light feel, some what reminiscent of the Eagles, or even some James Taylor. Emotion shows conviction to music and lyrics. Great guitar fills. In So. Cal. we have earthquakes, but 95% of homes survive. Floods take what is in their path. Happy to hear you were able to rebuild . . .

Thank you scaustrita
I am so glad you liked my song. The more I heard this song (after I 1st recorded it in it's raw state) the more I thought it would be alright. I didn't like the beginning of this mix because I think it's a bit muddy but after it gets going it doesn't seem to be such a big deal.
I have a problem with excepting the first take and not trying to "perfect" things. It will always be this way.
Yes, floods are very bad. The devastation is total. In Cedar Rapids, 1400 city blocks were flooded. Most houses just like ours were flooded to the ceiling of the first floor. What a mess!

Nice song
and not at all pointless.

The solo guitar and lead guitar are a bit close in the mix. Probably because you're using the same instrument? A bit of separation, for instance in EQing, would be nice.

I like these
impromptu songs of yours. Drum machine, eh? Sounds like a good songwriting helper. You sing this like it's a real experience.

yeah, its the cheapest external drum machine I could buy. One made by Zoom. But when you just need something quick it works great. Thanks for the complement.

Really Nice
Chord progression and the lead fills blend in nicely. Simple (not really) but effective.

Very nice Neal
Love the laid back music bed you put down for this. Sounds like an old R & B style more than Traditional Blues, but that takes noting away from the song, which is very cool,

Love it Neal,
