Description
Nearly finished. Just needs a few tweaks, level, vocal and mastering.
Im looking for someone to help with the vocal on this. My voice and ideas just arent working at the moment and id hate to see this one just fade away without getting finished as ive spent so long getting it to where it is now.

If anyones interested in adding vocal let me know and you can either start from scratch or adapt the lyrics i've half written. I'll also then explain the song structure (not complicated) and vibe as i see it. Or you can go at it completely in your own way....... Anything is good.

This song has been ages in the making. Sitting around for about 6 months without a bridge and solo. Then i picked it up again and added the funky outro. Its a bit long but hey not to worry :)

Any tips welcome. Especially as my ears are so tired of the song i think im deaf to minor timing and levelling issues.

At 82bpm
Intro
0.14s verse 1
0.38s 2nd part of verse 1
0.50s Chorus 1
1.13s End of chorus
1.24s Verse 2
1.48s 2nd part of verse 2
1.59s Chorus 2
2.22s End of chorus
2.34s Bridge
3.21s Solo
3.56s Verse 3
4.20s 2nd part of verse 3
4.32s 3rd chorus
4.54s End of 3rd chorus
5.06s Outro

Lyrics
Verse 1.
Sitting in the clouds with his head in his hands
Stressed by the amount of hate to be found down on the ground
He only had one job and he wasn’t doing it well
To spread his love around and bring happiness to the world

Verse 1 (2nd part, where it gets louder)
He didint get it, He couldn’t do it, but now he’d make um pay make them regret it
Eyes are twitching, trigger finger itching now, locked and loaded about to go crazy now

Chorus 1
Cupid went postal with an uzi today
Shooting everybody that came his way
There were People fucking in the streets everywhere you turned, blinded by the power of not getting burned
It was lust at first sight every step you took an outbreak of love a pandemic from above.

Verse 2
Dancing through the sky with his quiver full of lead
Blessed with the weapons and power to grant love from the gods up above
No longer choosing targets, no longer taking aim
Just random blasts of passion as revenge for all his pain
Verse 2 (2nd part, where it gets louder)
He got give it, he never had it, A loveless life has broke this old romantic
He’s going down with all guns blazing now locked and loaded about to go crazy now

Chorus.
Cupid went postal with an uzi today
Shooting everybody that came his way
There were People fucking in the streets everywhere you turned, blinded by the power of not getting burned
It was lust at first sight every step you took an outbreak of love a pandemic from above

Verse 3
Hiding in the heavens as the whole world fell apart
impressed by the pain & hate he created by playing with the heart
He has no thoughts for feelings and he doesnt care for love
anarchy & chaos reign in his new world torn apart
Verse 3 (2nd part, where it gets louder
Venus god of love, Mars god of war got together to produce this evil spore
he took us down with all guns blazing now, he left his mark but took something amazing.

Chorus.
Cupid went postal with an uzi today
Shooting everybody that came his way
There were People fucking in the streets everywhere you turned, blinded by the power of not getting burned
It was lust at first sight every step you took an outbreak of love a pandemic from above

VERY nice!
i might have some free time coming up sometime this coming week ... if you wouldn't mind me trying somethin. sweet tune man, and i know what you're talking about there ... i've been a victim of ear fatigue due to hours of non-stop mixing SOOO many times that it's almost permanent ;P jk

sick
yo, I love the vibe to this. the guitars and drums sound great.

this might not be what you had in mind, but I could definitely rap to this. check out some of my latest tracks for a feel of what I do (particularly Chills or Requiem).

sick song man. thanks for sharing.

Thanks
Just checked out chills and I like your style!
Funnily enough when I was writing this I intended part of the vocal to be almost rapped. Kind of chili pepper rapping style. Many of theIr songs break the verse into 2 parts. First half soft and sung, second part heavier, more wordy and almost rapped. Which is what I was thinking if doing here. At 38 seconds in the verse changes vibe before the chorus kicks in at 50 secs.
So yeah if you want a go at rapping over this go for it. Only have lyrics for first 2 verses and the chorus so for. But your welcome to put your own on this.
Cheers

I totally dig this track man.
Great production man. Top notch. If you really need vox... I'd lend ya mines. I can do some trashy screaming like vox.
lemme know if your interested.

Glad you dug it.
Just checked out another of you tracks, this house is not for sale. Vocals on that are great. Mixing that softer side with a more energetic style over this track could work really well.
I'll be finishing the lyrics hopefully today and then.... I'll be in touch.
Cheers for the comment

Get yer Red Hot Vox collaber in here!
I can't help you with the vox but I totally get the Chili Peppers vibe you mentioned above in these comments. The complimentary L & R Chorus parts are interwoven in that vein and the drums have the kind syncopation that would support that vox treatment well. Don't wait -- but someone whose vox you dig until they relent! For the outro, it loses a little energy being so clean and at the same time mellowing-out. I could use a shot of energy at the end.

Bob
Thanks bob,
glad you can see what I was aiming for.
I know what you mean about the outro. I jam in a band and wrote this with playing as group in mind. I put the jam at the end mainly for indulgence :). Originally it stopped dead after the last chorus but added it one day as I didn't want to waste that little idea. I think the 2 parts mix well but yeah it does lose a bit of energy, but hopefully gains something else?
Thanks, really appreciate the comment,
ted

Hey
Ted, glad to hear you post a new tune. Cool tune mate. Like the way you have structured this, with the bass and drums. Great guitar breaks. This tune needs a singer, i would do it, but i can't sing. I hear there is a vacancy going for a guitarist in California, better weather?

Ah
Thanks!
I fear I may have missed the auditions for that job, and If by some miracle I'd have scraped through on the jamming I would have only failed miserably on the yoga and meditation anyway.... Bloody less edgy grown up funk rockers... Bring back the 90's!!!
Cheers mate.
egobandit said 2909 days ago (December 28th, 2009)
Very nice
Love the endless swirl on the guitars. The bass kicks on this. I was trying to imagine how the lyrics would sound on this and if my imagination is working right this song is going to be killer. I hope age of the death tree helps you out! now that would be very cool. excellent song! BTW the outro is killer love the wah wah

Glad you like the bass. Im primarily a 6 stringer but sometimes i'm envious of the 4 stringers so i always try some thing fun on my basslines to satisfy myself in that department...
Super glad you like the outro.
Thanks egobandito!

Tones
It's a mix of strat and les Paul. I started the song about 9 months ago on the les, then lost interest in the song. Sold the Gibson, got a strat, got interested in the song again and finished it off... The strat really purked up my interest to finish this.
Cheers

nice interplay
between the bass and the guitar and first and then into the meat and potatoes. Like the jangle of the arpeggios and how they interplay between the other instrumentations. Way to go, nice rockin!

Nicely put together....
I really like the interlocking guitar bits. There's a lot in there, but nothing gets in each other's way... How they all work with the bass is also neat, as are the drums...

I really like listening to this as is... I like the mix...

Glad you like it.
The drums were originally recorded by my friend robin. We miked up his kit and recorded but the sounds captured wered great so i painstakingly played along bit by bit and reproduced them in midi (then i realized logic can do this automatically)....
I really like the drums but wish i had more choice than the sounds that come with logic...
Thanks Ed

hi ted. heard this before and remember thinking what a great track it was and feeling a little guilty i didn't jot down a few words and say so. anyway...making amends now. have you had much interest vocal wise - i wouldn't be surprised; i could hear things going round my head as soon as the intro started. i had a go at busking your lyrics....they're excellent words....but it might help for you to post a version with you singing so others have some idea as to how you envisage it all fitting into place. rock on.

wow this impressed me ;D
at first i thought that it is an ok-song. but when the chorus popped out you convinced me that it is a very very cool song.
i will be excited about who will add vocals and how it will sound in the end ;D
great arrangement. i think the song is never too long. i could listen to it for hours. sometimes songs are just getting way too long, but this fits just right. so many great ideas in this . gorgeous.

i just fav'd it.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!
Dude! That is some seriously professionally sounding work. I would love to hear vocals with this but I really like it as an instrumental. My only gripe is that the synth part during the bridge seemed a touch out of place but it was mixed low enough that it didn't really distract any. Sweet solo. Is your bass going direct into your sound-card/audio interface? Once again, well done. You rock! The best I've heard on MacJams recently. Oh, and nice outro.

Woah
Steady on I'll get delusions of grandeur...:)
made my day with that comment! I am particularly proud if this tune. Was a long time in the making as all the bits came to me with months of separation. But all work well together.
As far as I can remember I was going direct into my FireWire port with the bass and then added one of logics bass presets. 60s fingerstyle probably.
Thanks again
MannequinRaces said 2794 days ago (April 22nd, 2010)
Cool.
Yeah, that bass sound is pretty nice. I have never mic'd a bass cabinet before because the results of going direct and then adding some effects always sound good enough for me. Thanks for the info.
