LOOKIN' FOR THE MOUNTAINS

Description
This is a tale like that of Narcissus and Goldmund (Herman Hesse). A boy brought up by monks seeks to find his soul beyond the spiritual but confining walls of the monastery, realizing that he needs to understand the physical and material to reach the spiritual pinnacle (the mountains). Kind of an odd theme for country style, but that's the way it came out and I NEVER argue with my muse. It just wouldn't be appreciative!

Yeah...
I thought about that in the studio a lot but decided I liked a nice clear tap beat as a comparison or contrast to kind of highlight the softness of the background strings etc. and therefore enlarge the whole spectrum. I may have overdone it, but to rewrite a proverb 'To forgive is human, to err is divine!' LOL

Thank you, Charles
It actually started as pure folk and just grew into country as we recorded it. So the slide became inevitable, LOL. It's one of the few where I actually get to solo (guitar) myself.

Soaring
I love the tone of all the instruments in this one - and of course your voice is great. The interplay between the instruments and in the vocal harmonies makes this a wonderfully interesting song. You have a varied palate that you draw on for all the colours you get into a song. Much enjoyed!
