Description

Well, it seems that everyone had the same idea as me and has asked Andy Wigzell to contribute to one of their songs. It is hardly surprising since he is a great sax player. I was amazed at how quickly he responded and how brilliantly he matched the mood I was looking for.
Hope you enjoy - play it loud, if you can.
Thanks for listening. Sorry it's so long - just couldn't find anywhere to shorten it.

where did my 8 minutes go?
I seem to have been distracted by the slowly gyrating music, and suddenly awoke 8 minutes later... was it just a fantasy? Nope, I can hit the replay button! And look at this, I am not the only one to have some Russian lyrics in a new song! Mrs. Gold added some nice spice there (and I like the sentiment in her lyrics)... AndySax is always great, and he really makes this a dizzy dance. Great music and orchestration Len, this does indeed have some Middle-Eastern flair, and is a great listen.

I was always going to be making this shorter, but couldn't in the finish. Andy's playing is superb and inspiring.
Becca Johnson was going to add some Russian singing but, unfortunately, is unwell at the moment, so the missus stepped up to the plate. I am actually very pleased with the result.

You know Len, your songs are getting sexier AND saxier with each new post!

You are one of the most original percussionists here. There's always a real sophistication to your rhythms that I find so appealing. If there's an extended mix of this, I'd like it too, as this one ended rather abruptly.... Huh?

Oh my
She's up! Len, it's amazing how you interpreted the sax in the way you EQ'd and put effects to it as if it were an instrument under your independent hand. This is one of those crazy sounds you would happen to hear when walking down some alley at 2Am and you hear this and happen to look in and see nothing but crazy, swirling people. I didnt think it was too long... could have gone on another 2 minutes or so.... afterall, it is fantasy.

Massive thanks for contributing to this. I wasn't really sure what I was doing with it at all until you added your magic. It is really amazing for me (and I am sure your other collaborators) to have the opportunity to have REAL saxophone playing on their tracks. Not just any old saxophone either - but a beautifully played one.

	It's a groovy kind of lurve... Nice groove Len! How do you manage to make midi drums sound so funky and real? Middle Eastern
Since visiting Kyrgyz a few times where Turkish music is playing everywhere I have really grown to love some of those beats and it is surprising to me how close it is to reggae which I have loved for many years.
If you remember I sent this to you in its original raw beat/bass state and didn't know where to go with it.
It was fun asking Mrs Gold to say something in Russian, but she spoke so quietly that I had to triple track it and put lots of gain on the EQ just to hear it.
Andy's playing is amazing and lifted this out of the ordinary.

at 8+ minutes; I don't know what I would have been able to trim either! you create a terrific multi-ethnic mood--at one point, I heard this song's reggae origins but this is quite a melange of different styles, all anchored by the hypnotic beat! (Makes me want to check out your drum plug-in, among other things--sounds a lot better than my Logic presets!)

to see you here Michael and thanks for the lovely comment.
The basic kit and beats are from AD (which I love and endorse) but I always seem to end up merging other beats and kits over the top of it. There was also a hand clap loop that I double tracked and shifted one apart from the other and added delay designer to them, which added an unusual feel, I think. I also add and drop things as it tracks. Basically I just play around until I hit something that seems to work.

Another most interesting mix Len
And I don't just mean the tracks - the styles and influences here are so varied - a little reggae-eastern-jazz-meets-Zappa.... could go on, but I would have never thought of putting these styles together as you have so brilliantly. Andy's signature is a really nice touch here- it adds a spice to make the finished product all the more unique. Your beat track is punchy too, with an almost polyrhythmic feel to it.

You have another winner here Mr. Gold (and Andy)!
