Description
Been a long while since I posted anything. Here's one I recorded last year... self-explanatory, I think. (Got a bunch of half-baked ideas started, but we're working on a CD for my band this winter, so I'm not gettin' much time for my solo works.) Anyhow - hope you enjoy some happy dreams yourself!

Lyrics
Deep, Deep Dream

Coming home from a long, hard day
And all I want is to drift a-way
Lay my head on the pillow
And close my eyes
In the quiet and darkness
As the long… day… dies

I fall into a welcome sleep
No noise or traffic, no cell phone beep
A place that I want to stay in
A long, long time
A haven I want to play in
All in… my… mind

I was caught in a deep, deep dream
Floating along on some cosmic stream
A blissful spec in a soft moonbeam
I was caught in a deep… deep… dream

I was home in some deep, deep love
A perfect night with the stars a-bove
Such a nice peaceful ev’ning
no time to tell
A rare and wonderful feeling
an exo - tic spell

Slumbering in a deep, deep peace
Wishing that it would never cease
A gentle hand that caressed me
A warm em - brace
Like the Maker had blessed me
with ama - zing grace

I was caught in a deep, deep dream
Floating along on some cosmic stream
A blissful spec in a soft moonbeam
I was caught in a deep… deep… dream

I was lost in a deep… deep… dream

Deep
Sweet tune, David. How often I feel like the narrator of this song. Love the guitar work on this. And the simplicity of just guitar and vocal. Very pretty chorus.

Love the song
When I played it it had some distortion.. Almost like a bad mp3... unless that is supposed to be there! Excellent tune though.

Distortion...
...probably one of those cases where I went from Garageband to iTunes to AIF to MP3. It's all digital, but some of those translations take their toll. Glad you enjoyed the tune anyhow!

Moonbeam lift
It's difficult to sing a song when the accompaniment is so in parallel both rhythmically and melodically; it requires a kind of precision (in my ears) that your first verse didn't achieve, but the rest of the song works. Your sweet soft moonbeam phrase warmed me to the track. It broke the sing-songy nature of the verse. The lasting effect is one of a momentary simplicity that works well with the lyrics.

Just a folk singer. Well - mostly a folk singer, but I like to try just about every style a middle-class white guy from Mid-Michigan can sincerely try. Be sure to check out my "band" — I used to play R&R with these guys back in the 70s, but now we'... [see more]
