Description

So lyrics were the beginning back in August of 08. The music slowly came over the next few months. Then in August, I found MacJams and uploaded the original version [w/o vocals]. Over time I tweaked a few things on the instruments and parts and such. Finally got around to recording the vocals today and finished putting it all together! Hope you all like!

[And yes I disabled downloading and I do apologize; It's just if I ever get my album finished anytime soon, I'm hoping to sell it for money for important things in my life.]

nice work here...
I really like the melody line here... But I would suggest that now that you have this nice vocal melody, you can change the background piano that is playing the same melody underneath, or at least soften it more, since it is competing against your voice. Very nice singing and harmonizing, and nice backing synths in the second half that kick in. You might want to sprinkle just a teeny bit more synthy stuff around the first 1/3rd of this piece, to bring in more interest early on... I do like the soft quality of the beginning too though, so not too much! :-) Also, your voice could be boosted just a teeny bit, sometimes I had trouble catching the lyrics.

This is the first time I've heard one of your songs, and I am impressed with your vocal style and the way you put this piece together. I like the way it builds from the beginning.

Other than your brief description, I don't know any additional background on this song. Did you play the guitar?

My only suggestion would be to make the vocals more prominent in the mix, maybe duplicate and pan the tracks if you haven't already. Your voice is lovely but sometimes it doesn't quite PUNCH through in this mix, especially when the background has more instruments playing.

This is really good. I agree with the drakonis about the piano at the beginning, somewhat competing with the voice. Probably you wanted it that way though.
Love the 2 voice part towards the end. The only thing is that the back vox is louder than the fore vox. You can automate the volume of the fore vox to make it grow with the song.

	Very nice voice you have. The vocal level was pretty decent until the guitar came in. I would boost the vocals 2 db in the chorus and go from there. Nice job. Keep up the good work. You should put more vocals in your stuff! Check out my latest song called Devil's Argument!!!

I agree with everyone's comments here. Might I add that your vocal entries are slightly 'behind' the beat. This is purely because you are taking a breath just as the downbeat for your vocal entry commences, which does 2 things: 1) puts your vocals 'behind' just for a split second, 2) your taking a breath is louder than your singing, which distracts me from the wonderful ethereal vocal quality you have.

Could I suggest that you take a deep breath about 5 seconds prior to singing each verse/chorus, which will ultimately give you time to phrase your vocals in the fullness that you intended.

Lovely voice!
And this melody works really nicely for your phrasing and style. I actually am in the camp of liking the vocal melody doubled with the piano in the verse parts. As the song develops I think the arrangement gets really sophisticated around 2:20-2:30--maybe the vox in R speaker could come down a tiny bit but this is so nicely done!

Great vocals
The instruments don't quite match up. For instance, that piano in the beginning is very cheap sounding (what's the weird sustain?), the drums around 2:35 should be much fatter, and I don't like that strange bass (drum) thingy that starts around 1:25.

But: really really good vocals and great composition. You're doing something weird with time signatures, right? Gives a wonderfully fluid feel to the music.

If I can make a suggestion, your Lead Voice needs to be
edited to be on top of the beat, instead of behind the beat....
This would put it in time with the keyboard and enhance the
dynamics and polish your vocal groove with the keys....
Now this is what I would do, to take this song to the next
level cause you have a nice voice...

This is amongst...
some of the best pop music here. I would suggest dropping the percussion at the 2:29 mark it is distracting and doesn't really add anything to the song and a sustain on some of the notes on the piano line that matches the vocal melody would go a long way in tightening it up over all. It almost breaks into a crescendo and begs to reach some sort of a climax but to my ear it doesn't quite make it. Again this is amongst the best pop music here and that says a lot. You are a very talented young lady. drakonis is one of our very best here and he won't steer you wrong so listen closely to what he is telling you. You have an incredible voice and should have no problem selling your art.

Lush, Lovely Vocals
I first want to compliment you on what is a very lovely and mature song that drew me in with your vocal stylings and kept me enthralled throughout the track. There's a Kate Bush-like quality to your voice that's both sensual and ethereal. In my humble opinion what would enhance your vocals would be stronger bass and drums, especially on the downbeat, and like I always say, ya can't go wrong with a little orchestral backing on such a beautiful tune as this. I hope to hear this some day on the radio while I'm driving at night in rain and fog. Or lying next to the one I love. I'm your fan!

	yo nice song jess. The vox is great, such a lovely voice. The only problem I had was the thin almost non existant drums, and the vocals seemed a tad to much in the high end. maybe a little EQ on the vocal track would benefit the overall feel. 	Sweet I love that vocal, and the backing is spare but effective, a little miss at 2:04 when the git solo starts your lovely voice be to low in the mix it's hard to follow the lyrics.
