PLEASE COMMENT!!! SORRY--I ACCIDENTALLY DISABLED COMMENTS UNTIL NOW BUT I THINK I FIXED IT! NOTE FOR THE FUTURE: DON'T UPLOAD SONGS AT 2AM.
TV John Langworthy is a local Washington, D.C. eccentric. I met him when he was the booker for a miserable Tex-Mex restaurant and live music venue and he was kind enough to hire me a couple of times to play for two or three sullen tables of customers, back in the early 1990s when I was too young to know better. He's noteworthy for other reasons as well: he had a mid-life awakening where he realized he was a divinely-inspired songwriter, and since then hundreds of songs have come to him in dreams, as if from a higher power. He actually has his own wikipedia entry as well, I recently discovered.
I had totally forgotten about him, but a few weeks ago I heard a local musician mention that he was going to appear on TV John's cable show the next week. Hence this song. Also: for some reason, this song cites not one but several 60s folk-rock classics in the lyrics. Don't ask me why.

Lyrics
Welcome to the New Age
TV John, you're still around...
I had assumed that you left town, or you went crazy
But here you are, all set to blow
On your public access show
I must be crazy
TV John, you had your groove
Your dreams would make you move
(oh oh, oh oh)
Turn the channel (come on John, come on John)
Turn the page (come on John, come on John)
Wrap yourself in flannel (come on John, come on John)
Welcome to the new age
TV John, you had your time...
You'd throw the bums a dime, cause they were lazy
But here you are, all set to sing
And you haven't got a thing
You're getting lazy
TV John, you did your best
But your dreams disturbed your rest
(chorus)
TV John, I wish you well
But your dreams, they cast a spell
TV John, you're still around...
I had assumed that you left town, or you went crazy
But here you are, all set to blow
On your public access show
I must be crazy
TV John, you had your groove
Your dreams would make you move
