Description
Last year I went back and re-made my first upload to MJ - and here's a complete revision of my second song posted 7/4/2006 as When Is? http://macjams.com/song/22294
In the process of re-recording the song it took some pretty significant left turns and resulted in a new tune that bore little resemblance to the old. I tried working with the original lyrics without happiness - so I sent the tune to Steve (echoroom) for a new life. As usual he delivered in spades. He sent at least seven vocal tracks for me to work with - leads, harmonies, choruses etc. and left it up to me to do this mix.
Steve says: The lyric was inspired by the work of Terry Bradley, an Irish artist whose current work is concentrated on paintings on men, depicting characters based on Ireland’s hardworking docker industry and the Sailortown area around Belfast which saw it’s heyday over 100 years ago and culminated with the building of the White Star’s magnificent Titanic.
Many thanks to Steve for his work here - he has such an amazing gift. And thanks to Jiguma for hosting the festivities.

Lyrics
Sailortown
This town that built the ships that carried you home
These hands that banged the nails and carried the stone
Taught you to punch and pray (x2)
Women kiss goodnight; tomorrow will spit you out
City of Iron
Lion in the heart of man; chaperone the lamb
City of Iron
White Star line
Women are where you drown, sirens of Sailortown
City of Iron
Men like a broken nose, mother of pearl and rose
City of Iron
White Star line
This town that built the ships that shattered the ice
These hands that banged the nails and brokered the tides
This town that teaches you the life of the night
Taught you to pinch and pray (x2)
