Description
This is a complete re-do of the very first song I submitted to MacJams, way back in July or August of 2004. And, I think, it was the second song I'd ever done in GarageBand. The song was written and recorded back in February or March of that year, not long after I first got my hands on GB, on my old eMac.
At the time, it was mostly loops with bass, strings and piano done on an old Casio keyboard I'd run through the audio input jack. Once I got a USB keyboard I updated some of those parts and reposted the song in 2005. The original version is gone, but the repost is here. Alas, the original GB files for the the tune were lost in the Great Firewire Drive Crash of '06. So this was a perfect time to start up again from scratch.
In the remake I recreated the percussion track from the original, for the most part. I think I may have mixed up the loops and thrown in a little more variety than I had originally. Other than the drums, all the other loops I originally used have been replaced with guitar and synth tracks with the exception of one string loop.
And as an interesting sidebar to this song, it came close to being my first, and only submission to MacJams. I found MacJams after I'd tried, with disappointing results, posting some music on another site, only to just basically be ignored. I'd lurked at MJ for a while and listened to the tunes and decided to try my luck. As luck would have it the very first comment I go here at MJ was from someone who thought it would be funny to make some snarky, mean comments about my tune (from someone who never posted a tune and is long gone). I almost walked away, but after a few more days I decided to post another tune and not long after that I began getting the good, supportive and constructive comments that have been at the core of the MacJams community.
And I began to make friends.
Since then I've never looked back. I posted tons of music, made lots of friends and stuffed my iTunes with all kinds of great music.
It's great taking part in the MJ Reunion Fest again this year. So far I've heard a lot of great tunes that have been submitted, and it's just the first day. I'm looking forward to a lot more over the next two weeks.

Scary Monsters

Don't go out tonight.Just stay here in bed
Keep the scary monsters out of your head
I'll keep you safe and warm right here by my side
We'll crawl under the covers. Stay there and hide.
Looking out the window. Watching the rain.
All those scary monsters play tricks with your brain.
Creeping through the darkness. Feel the chill on your skin.
All those scary monsters come from within.
Shadows on the stairways. Shadows in the halls.
All those scary monsters cast no shadows at all.
Open up your closets. Look under your bed.
Keep those scary monsters out of your head.
Hiding with a flashlight under the sheets.
Feel the scary monsters as they tickle your feet.
Turn all of the lights on after you scream.
All those scary monsters still wait in your dreams.
Don't go out tonight. Just stay here in bed.
Keep those scary monsters out of your head.
I'll keep you safe and warm right here by my side.
We'll crawl under the covers. Stay there and hide.

I like the environment you set. Nice vocals. Interesting changes, with the strings. Haunting toward the end! Sounds like you had some fun with the vocals.
