Description
This is a small instrumental composition that I wrote in honor of my grandfather Russell Hughes. He recently passed away after losing the horrifically painful fight against lung cancer. The title is very poetic, symbolic, and meaningful. I chose the first part: Goodbye, Full Moon Wolf" because my grandfather was part Native American/Indian so he loved nature and he was very "in tune" with nature, but his favorite animal of all was the wolf and he loved the full moon. And to me, it's very ironic that the full moon on the night that he died was called the "Wolf Moon". So that's where the first part came from. The second part of the title: "Hello Depressing Sun" is symbolic of that wolf dieing, and that special full moon ending, and that special night that was symbolic of his life, is over. So then morning comes and the sun comes up and that again means that night (his life) is over and it's very depressing. All in all, R.I.P. Papa Russ. I miss you!

It's always touching to hear the compositions people create in response to major events in their lives and this is no exception--thanks for sharing.

tenderness and strength
the wolf is a very sensitive creature, but also strong. your grandfather offers you these two gifts, which you have accepted. the music shows these gifts in you. remember your grandfather through your music, and he will smile and protect you.

this is a beautiful tribute, both in words and in music. thank you very much for allowing the rest of us to know him better in this way.

looking down '-)
I think your opa is looking down with a big smile and a tear. It is good of you to post this music, a universal emotion is conveyed so well. My wife is a Cherokee indian, thus I can tell you that if you believe in your heritage you know that he will be close to you for the rest of your life and after. Keep his thought alive, your chin up and those fingers on the guitar. You have talent and, what I can gather from the short time I have "known" you, a good heart. A salute from White Horse and his Morning Sun.
