Description
This song is an old hymn... I’m fascinated by the lyric... the lyric is so picturesque and poetic, yet the music that accompanies the original is downright banal... almost ridiculous... I inserted a snippet of the original at the end of the song... sort of like an echo rising out of the past... the treatment of this hymn is really designed to propel the lyric in a more suitable fashion... although it occurs to me that 100 years from now folks will look at this the same way that I perceive what was done 100 years ago... that’s the nature of fashion... so be it...
I sang the old radio echo from yesteryear that you hear as it fades... I’d rather have other voices doing it.. recognizing my voice there sort of wrecks the effect for me... also it peaks in twice as the song fades... I’m guessing that it may be too much.... it moves from it’s original position to the other speaker in the fade... I’m not sure if was trying to achieve to much or if it even worked at all... but one reason I put it in there was so that you could see that although the chords are different, the melody is the same...
that’s why we post...

Lyrics
When the mist has rolled in splendor from the beauty of the hills
And the sunlight falls in gladness on the rivers and the rills
We'll recall our Fathers promise in the morning of the spray
We shall know each other better when the mist has rolled away
We walk the path before us with a weary burdened heart
we toil amongst the shadows and our fields are far apart
But the Saviors come ye blessed all our labors will repay
When the shadows have departed and the mist has rolled away
we shall know as we are known
nevermore to walk alone
in the dawning of the morning of that bright and happy day
we shall know each other better when the mist has rolled away
We shall come in joy and gladness we shall sit before the throne
Face to face with those who love us, we shall know as we are known
And the song of our redemption shall resound through endless age
When we gather in the morning and the mist has rolled away
we shall know as we are known
nevermore to walk alone
in the dawning of the morning of that bright and happy day
we shall know each other better when the mist has rolled away
When the mist has rolled in splendor from the beauty of the hills
And the sunlight falls in gladness on the rivers and the rills
We'll recall our Fathers promise in the rainbow of the spray
We shall know each other better when the mist has rolled away

I don't think I've ever heard this hymn, but I really like what you've done with it. It seems like writers and arrangers have a divide in their minds between songs and hymns, and they think it is acceptable to make a hymn sound banal, irritating, harmonically babyish, and maddeningly difficult to sing. You have torn down that wall and made it into an actual song. Beautiful. It vaguely reminds me of Petra's early worship songs. Don't criticize your voice. You have a unique vocal style that works very well for this song. Although at first I thought your vocal was slightly weak, that was no longer the case when you added the backing vocals halfway through. The organ around 5:18 is an extremely nice touch.
