Description

i had posted a duet with my dear teacher the late Francisco De La Morena in 2004 that i removed.....i wanted to redo the feeling i got from that session...i found this really talented player....ralph johnson.... busking outside the cinema in miami beach...we had previously recorded a collaboration with macjammer TG called "Fire"..(i'll need to re-post that one)...i asked him to duel..dual..with me to try and recreate that feeling...well...its a different feeling of course but the essence of the joy of playing that was the legacy of my late teacher is there....many thanks ralph.....i am on the left channel and ralph is on the right....i hope u n-joy the music as much as i did playing it....peace...

I remember those two posts...
The variety of expressive talent that is McBoy was hanging out in spades back then as now. This is a gorgeous performance by you both, wild strumming rhythm/variety that boggles me... the combination of melody and rhythmic percussion-playing reminds me a bit of the late M. Hedges. And that says nothing about this playful smirky composition. Blues is my favorite color. Kudos por tu-dos.

The Joy
really shines through on this performance.

Great pairing of guitar talents! Your notes spill out in a cascading waterfall over the rocks, then swirl around in a crystal-clear pool. That's the image I "got" from listening to this, anyway.

I love the percussive elements in this music, and the triplet feel in the last section.

This all sounds so effortless and flowing. What a wonderful blues/guitar treat!!

truly great
to get to hear music like this for free, as well as on the internet. it was just a handful of years ago when this kind of recording would cost alot of money, and would have to be shopped to record companies, or privately funded then purchased in order to be enjoyed. this is an amazing example of talent, both in the order of musical ability and recording prowess. the simplicity with which the guitars are recorded belies the complexity of the final mix. this is a beautiful production, start to finish,no matter what format you choose to hear it with. from my monitors, to my earbuds in the ipod, simply fantastic.
thank you for giving us this song. it is a cherished addition to my already massive macjams music folder.

On Fire
Well this wasn't too bad! It had all the guitar tricks - hammer ons, slides, slaps, pull offs, etc. but what set it apart was the fact that all of these things were in a cohesive, musical setting. I know it's hard to make all of these things into music instead of just guitar playing but you sure did it on this one. Highest praise, much envy!
