Description
"Music is the space between the notes." - Claude Debussy

I started to think about this as I was monkeying with my keyboard and happened upon the dissonant, spacey sound at the beginning of this piece. The title refers to space, as in "out there," and the space between the notes, both harmonically and rhythmically. Description sounds like a masters thesis, but it's just a piece I made on GarageBand,

cleaning out all those unexpectedly good things 'in-
between'. i feel like i'm floating along, stuck in a universe
of vivid conciousness & sleepy-wonder dreamland.

2004: A Jazz Odyssey
At first I am propelled backwards to the dissonantly
humming monolith of Arthur C. Clarke's "2001: A Space
Odyssey". Then, I am asked to return to December of
2004 and settle into a warm leather couch in a spaceport
lounge aboard the Starship MacJamaica. Here, I find a
friend. We make a toast to high adventure, embracing
both the harmonies and dissonance of the celestial
spheres. It's all good.

Excellent groove. Unhurried, fluid pacing. Great
production quality. 8-8-8-8

Wow. It's funny how one's music can be exactly what one intends, and at the
same time completely different. Glad you liked it.

Cool tune. I especially like the vibes, acoustic bass and piano. You could easily post under Jazz. ChrisSly: Celestial lounge lizard. :)

I was contemplating the Jazz genre, but thought "nah, too much synth noise."
I may change it though, because it really does have more to do with Jazz than
with Electronica. the genres - so limiting. If there were only a "Space Jazz"
category.

good cheer for the ear
There are a lot of nice things going on is this piece, both with the notes and the spaces in between them. I like the way it develops from a simple song into a more complex articulation, yet it never loses its smooth groove. It doesn't try to be big, bold and overpowering - it's content to be itself, a series of sweet sound waves flowing through the universe spreading good cheer to whatever ears it touches.

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. That's pretty much what I was going for when I
laid this down. Cheers!
