great stuff!
Very nice recording! I know my daughter would love it. Hope you crank out more children's music. There just isn't enough quality there these days.

nice concept, well done
I like the idea of setting familiar children's songs in alternate (but familiar) genres/styles... do you use some of this fun music in your class to get kids interested in music? I remember getting interested in music DESPITE the occasional music teacher in elementary school, wished she had been more charismatic and interesting... where was "KristyJo" when I needed her? :-) Anyway, nice recording work here too, although I would probably roll back the chorused guitar sound a little, it was on the verge of having too much bite. Great guitar "solo" there, very smooth & fun.
ttfn,
Drakonis

Again, Thanks for listening!
When I moved from the music room to the regular ed. classroom I chose 1st grade because my backgrounds in both music and technology would fit so well. We sing everyday. Songs make for great phonics and reading fluency lessons. It began with me simply accompanying the children on acoustic guitar. When I got a Mac I realized I could expand what I was doing. I now combine my mp3 files with PowerPoint presentations to go with each song.

This particular recording came from a series focusing on the short u sound. If you check out my Little Tommy Tucker recording you'll notice how I was temporarily enamored with tremlo effects. So you're probably right in that I may have overdone it.

Normally I wouldn't click on the genre, but this was a real treat. Shades of XTC. Super nice mix and blending of voices. Well done

Wow! Thank You!
Your comments are such a great gift on a Monday. I realize that the genre I work in no doubt impacts the number of hits my projects get. But they're a reflection of both my day job and music background. Since I'm not a song writer, children's songs give me all kinds of room to learn arranging, recording, singing, and mixing without copyright worries.

The great thing about this sight is access to fresh ears. I didn't hear the XTC influence until you pointed it out. That's a huge compliment. Thanks sooooooo much.

That's a hell of an arrangement!
I can see the kids bouncing off the walls to this one.

I'm Sorry I Missed You
I didn't realize you had taken the time to stop by and comment. Luckily the song is short so they don't bounce for long.

LOL
Ok when I read the description I could hardly wait for the music to start after I hit play... God how I wish you'd been my 1st grade teacher. You are extremely talented and I think I would have begged for music time all day long!!! What would have been the harm in that?

It's All in the Loop
The drum loop led the way on this one. I selected the main loop from the Rhythm Section Jam Pack and took the arrangment from there. And I agree with you. From what I see only good comes out of having the kids sing.

sweet tight harmony
wow - nice - hah hah -
how full of a rich party sound.
this thing sounds like it has a lot in it.
and apparently the high humidity didn't bother your performance at all.
I played there at two clubs but we ducked out before mardi gras and the state fair in '83 - - my ex worked at chateau le moyne
holiday inn - you know the one that used to be a prison - I think treen was the governor then - what a corrupt guy he seemed to be !

Love the triplets
An original tune on this rhyme, right? Excellent work! You ought to get paid for this. Is your stuff on the iTunes store?

Thank's John
Others have urged me in the past to market these things, but I'm just not up for dealing with the biz side. I'd rather just share with other teachers the way they do with me (I think that's just in our DNA).

The melody is actually right out of a book of children's songs I've had for years. The cajun blues arrangement and instrumental B section are mine.

Thanks for the listen and kind comments.

I've always been a fan of the Egg Man.
Not sure what you have done with these children's songs but if I were you I would package them and try to sell them.

Thanks Montag
I use them to enhance my reading instruction while teaching my first grade students. So in a sense I am getting paid for them. What a surprise to wake up and find someone had taken the time to check out these old posts. Thank you very much!
