If you persue this as a career, when you get your
recording contract, make sure to get your own lawyer, not
the one the record company hires to represent you.

A lawyer? Sorry to sound extremely dumb and naive, but what do I need
a lawyer for? I'm really confused as to what you meant with your
comment. :-I

No, I apologize for being confusing. It's nothing you've done.

If you look for doing this as a career, record companies will offer you
managers and lawyers that already work for them to represent
you.

In order to better protect your own interests in the contract
negotiation, it would be better to have as your own representative, someone
who is independant of the record company.

Also, keep your own publishing rights - that's a big source of income.

I'm speaking as someone who has read a number of interviews with
musicians
over the years. I'm sure there are some people here with far more experience
(first-hand/second-hand) than I.

I am not a lawyer, nor do I work in the recording industry, so take my advice
with a grain of salt.

You have a lot of talent and I wish you well.---

Thanks for your advice, but I'm not looking to pursue this as a career. It's just
something I enjoy doing for myself - I like to share it with other people, but
on terms of sharing it globally and promoting it, I'm not really into that. But
thanks anyway!
