Description

Featuring vocals and bass drum from the original, written in 2004 in Williamsburg Brooklyn with Rachel Newman, I have since composed completely new accompaniment featuring a driving bass line and haunting piano and piano varietals. The original acoustic guitar riff Rachel played from the chorus makes an appearance for the final chorus. I dunno kids, I think this may be close to ready for release. Input sought!

fresh... again
Good to see you two back here again, been awhile! Very tasty little twists and turns in the music, really spice this up and give it a unique and fresh feel, the little shaking of tail feathers, uh, I mean special effects in the music are tastefully added, not overdone. Great singing that catches your attention and doesn't let go.

	Eclectic Very nice vocal/synth arrangements and performance. The song brings me back to London, 80's era. It's a very melodic song, but as it is sung and performed it gives it a needed indie edge. This is very good in my ears. Bravo! Check out my latest song called Delirium Poema II

Ok, I listened to it with that in mind and combed through the lyrics; the chorus only happens twice though the second time it repeats, and each time the word neighborhood happens twice SO, that's a total of 6 instances of the same word, 3 times each two different ways. Granted if you cue up Lady CaCa you'll hear the same thing two dozen times but I'm not going for that! The easiest thing would be getting more vocals recorded except that *isn't* easy with Rachel's availability so perhaps I"ll try some DJ scratching wizardry to vary it up and perhaps I can even mix up the arrangement further. ANYWAY- THANK YOU FOR THE INPUT!

Counting
Partly you can analyze this by objective counting, but partly it's my impression. The verse consists of 4 lines that are more or less identical. Same for the chorus. But here's the kicker: the verse and chorus have approximately the same melody. And if you take close look at that melody, it's really one step down, then the same step up. That's not a whole lot of material. True, you vary the second half of each phrase (slightly) and there is some cool harmony vocalling going on, but still......

And measuring half steps is just counting too; I was taking your point seriously and trying to analyze it to devise an approach. However I do think you just made your point a lot more clear in terms of the similarity between the verse and the chorus. I've been working with the same vocal recording since 2004, again here-in lies the limitation. It may simply be time to coax Rachel back into the studio to work with the new arrangement and that is probably the key learning here!

	nice prince when doves cry is one of my favorites. It's funny how we discover our influences in listeners ears. Def. like the overlapping big chorus at the end too and have been tempted to bring it up earlier though it's seemed the song needed the build and benefited from the final rock out.
