Description
“A People of Many Nations” is an eleven-year project. I always knew what I wanted to say, but it took time to understand how to say it. After the passing of my Grandpa in 2009 I vowed to complete the message. It is about the quest to document our family’s Native American heritage, and expressing our feelings toward those who look at our pass & not who we are today. The chants you will hear are of the songs our farther sang to my sister and I as small children. A People of Many Nations doesn’t reflect the sentiment of all tribes, each is a sovereign nation with their own history. However they do know their pass and who they are today! I find being of the indigenous people of the Americas it is important to know your history. Many will never know their own. I want to thank Kristine Johanek (kristyjo) for her authentic playing of the American Indian flute. A People of Many Nations is dedicated to my father Santana, who fulfilled his earthly course in 1995, he is gone, but still with us. I miss you Pop . . .

Lyrics
We knew that we were
Now we know who we are
A people of many nations:
Chickasaw
Iroquois
Choctaw
Arapaho
Paiute
Wichita
Shoshone
Navaho
Lakota
Chumash
Apache
Chinook
Sioux
Blackfoot
Coushatta
Pueblo
Mohawk
And hundreds upon hundreds more
Tragedy once filled our life
But why do you say “I’m sorry.”
Where were you, when our land was taken?
Where were you, when we were marked for extinction?
Were you behind the trail of tears?
Were you responsible for every Indian nations malady?
We know the past,
We do not look back and cry,
My Grandfather said “Look Ahead”
We know who we are
And know where we are going.
Who are we?
Senators
Astronauts
Athletes
Musicians
Actors
Doctors
Lawyers
Tribal Leaders
Fathers
Mothers
Brothers
Sisters
We are a family!
Now we know who we are
A people of many nations:
Chickasaw
