Description
Whats this one about? I’m not sure really. A jumble of thoughts and feelings. Evelyn street is a real place in Nottingham, the old sign is there on the end of a brick wall on what was probably a row of Victorian houses, but now it’s just empty waste ground. I used to pass it every day on the way into work and think about the lives that once lived there. Evelyn street is I guess also a metaphor for a tricky emotional up and down back then. Say no more about that but got out of it. The songs in various pieces, ( bit like my head at the time!).Another solo recording.Mark

Lyrics
Evelyn Street
Just because we can
Doesn’t mean we ought to
Just because we want to
Doesn’t mean we should
It’s a passing obsession
No need for confession
It’s all in the mind
It’s all in a look
I’m into your life
But out of your circle
I’m into your life
But out of your circle
Cos I just don’t pray like you
And I just don’t feel
The way you do
The dappled light
In the apple orchard
Nobody lives
On Evelyn Street
I need to get out of here
To Evelyn Street
I’ll disappear
It’s the clean air of time
The cold sky solution
Feet snapping twigs
Like broken bones
It’s a fragile world
Pure and clean
It’s the colour of time
Beauty untold
Just because we can
Doesn’t mean we ought to
Just because we want to
Doesn’t mean we should
It’s a passing obsession
No need for confession
It’s all in the mind
It’s all in a look
I’m into your life
But out of your circle
I’m into your life
But out of your circle
Cos I just don’t pray like you
And I just don’t feel
The way you do
The dappled light
In the apple orchard
Nobody lives
On Evelyn Street
I need to get out of here
To Evelyn Street
I’ll disappear
It’s the clean air of time
The cold sky solution
Feet snapping twigs
Like broken bones
It’s a fragile world
Pure and clean
It’s the colour of time
Beauty untold

of vocal and guitars here and a really good sound from both..... I love the originality of this song in the way you performed and the subject matter..... could be a Beatles song on that score, Enjoyed, regards M
