And not only am I NOT a snob.... ...but I actually LIKE the guitar sounds in this, and part of the reason why is that because you're working apart from the physical instrument, you use guitar-like sounds in ways that are different from what a guitar player would tend to do... That brings those sounds into different contexts.... I really like the intro horns, and I really like the rich sonorities you're working with here.... Your mixes and arrangements can sound unusual at times, but you never, ever sound tacky.... Always great tone and great depth and width.... And although much goes on, it doesn't end up being busy.... Things have room and time to resonate.... I think you really trimmed and tweaked things into a neat place on this, so it feels like one long and reflective idea and not a bunch of ideas battling for dominance.... I really like it... Dion Long time no hear from. Nice to see you back (at least back posting songs here). I'm enjoying the space you have given each instrument. An orchestra full of alien creatures with organic instruments that sparkle, each on its own and still blend together when they must. I have to say that it took me a few listend to come round to this,but that is only cause it is a tune you cannot whistle ! But,that said,it is a grower and I am now having a blast anticipating the next twist and turn and each different musical nuance.Ain't music funny how it can grow on you ? The drums particularly are excellent and if this was done with the 'pencil tool'(I presume ,like cubase you 'draw' on one of the edit facilities to create directly)then you have a range that goes from charcoal to 5 H in terms of pencil lead variety !!
