Description
Vic Holman, Micheal Wark, Mike Dancy, and me...

A remix of our 2007 song, one of several Goodwillys tunes posted on each of our artist pages. Vic did the yeoman's work in this song with his "come-to-be-expected" great guitar work. Mike Wark jumps in with a driving bass, and Mike D. brings it on with drums that rock. I add vocals, saxophone, and synth horns.

Enjoy the ride. I did...

And, Yeman, thanks for bringing back to my memory the Goodwilly's.

Why the song art? I came up with a lot of the lyrics riding to and from work on my bicycle. After riding back to work after lunch one day, one of my co-workers said to me speaking of the day (it was a little past noon), "Well, it's half over now!"; thus the title and chorus of the song.

Lyrics
Rambling on, it's plain to see
Dodging the traffic most carefully.
Treading each day, wondering how,
Sneaking up slowly, it's half over now

I can see for many miles,
How it ought to be.
I can see most anything,
When the mood is striking me.

I can see you in my dreams,
But then I awake.
And it's half over now.

Creative spark, life writing a song,
Whether it rhymes, can it be wrong?
They're screaming with pleasure, so take a bow.
Sneaking up slowly, it's half over now...

I can see for many miles,
How it ought to be.
I can see most anything,
That I want to see.

I can see you in my dreams,
But then I awake.
And it's half over now.

[Sax break]

I can see for many miles,
How it ought to be.
I can see most anything,
When the mood is striking me.

I can see you in my dreams,
But then I awake.
And it's half over now.... it's half over now....

hey Bob...
This is one of those songs that, as the collaboration proceeded, the ideas and various parts just came together. Glad to know you like it. On behalf of the band, thanks...

ultimate
Ultimate Spinach? No, its The Ultimate Goodwilly's. Is this the golden era of macjams raising it's star once again. A bright light... where are my sunglasses? Like rockets in the sky...

memory land or...
memory hole. I had forgotten about this one to, until Yeman's forum post on the Goodwilly's. Vic, you rocked the house with your finger fret work on this song. Were your fingers blistered when you finished?

cheers,

Niiiiiiiice!
Good to hear this one again Jack. It had me digging out all five of the old Goodwillys tunes and giving them another listen. Glad Yeman lit a fire under us.

Be well friend!

Hey Mike....
It was a cool time of collaborating. It was your brain-child, as I recall. And there were some good songs that resulted, an of course a lot of fun.

cheers,

D

Brain-child?
As I remember it, the idea for the Goodwillys came about after Vic and I collab-ed on "House Of The Rising Sun." We wanted to do more stuff together and bring in some of our friends. Once you signed on we began to become a viable entity. Mike Dancy's joining was the icing on the cake. Too bad we couldn't keep up the momentum...
Dadai.2 said 1152 days ago (March 24th, 2010)
Momentum?
We lost momentum cause our manager never gave us our split from the gate receipts and CD sales.....

Thanks Roxylee. I think the remix was an improvement. Whether they'll be a new collab... well, inertia is a powerful thing.

thanks Eddie. This is why collabs can be a good thing. This exceeds anything I could do on my own.

lol, I love yoda speak!
Enjoy the ride... I did. Anyway, cool live sound to this track. Good solid vocal performance. I think you could eq your voice to give a more even tone though. I would hunt around in the upper midrage spectrum with the parametric EQ, between 1k and 3k and cut it by 3 db more or less and see what you find.

crissew said 1152 days ago (March 24th, 2010)
or another technique I use is
to bump it up like 8db and sweep it and find the spot where it sounds the worst and cut it there.
