Description:
experimented with multi tracking vocals and saxes

Lyrics:
(chorus:)
Walking down
Walking down
Walking down the road
Walking down
Walking down
Walking down the road

You gave a light to me
A candle in my hand
Its flame is shedding darkness now
Shadows on the ground

(Repeat chorus)

Shadows are chasing me
A candle in my hand
When will I ever see
See the flame again?

Chasing shadows
Chasing shadows
Chasing shadows chasing me
Chasing shadows
Chasing shadows
Chasing shadows chasing me

(repeat and combine with 2nd verse)

I think your exeriment as successful and pleasantly
unusual.

Well, that's one nice experiment. Great all around except
that the sax tracks are too loud. Just back those off a bit.
But what cool tune!

Wow. You might be right. Now that I've listened to the song a few time, the
sax really balls one over. A more "shadowy" sax might be neat.

This is a very cool song.

Thanks. I think you are right about the saxes. They're rough. In fact, the piece
is a rough cut.

stacks of sax &mdash 01/01/05 - 09:06:13 PM
There is a great slinky mood to this one... and it's
catchy, too. These types of songs really capture your
attention. They also create a lot of visuals...bringing
you to that dark corner of your head. The
overlapped sax was great - very musical. I also
enjoyed the strummed guitar after the sax. This one
deserves to be rated higher!

Agreed. This tune is a freakin' gem.

Moody motion &mdash 01/03/05 - 09:22:40 AM
Very cool. Not only do you have a great voice, and a
great way with the acoustic guitar, this tune captures a
very cool, driving moody motion and then explodes into
the sax section with wonderful surprise and energy.

I keep listening to this song and making everyone around
me listen to it. It's unique. People like it.

Thanks for that. Like many (most) of my songs, this one is rarely performed
or heard by anyone other than my kids and the pets. Whenever Col. Gazpacho
(the cat) hears it, he rolls around on the floor and writhes. I guess he likes it,
but am not sure.

Reminds me of old Chain Gang songs! Then, the layered
vocals come in, adding that deep "Blind Boys" flavor. LOVE
the quick loud guitar strums!

I was not fond of the sax, though. It seemed to take me
out of that darkness, but very personal opinion there. The
playing is well done!

For some odd reason, I want to do an Industrial cover of
this tune, heh!

Interesting stuff &mdash 02/01/05 - 11:33:15 PM
I like that real abrupt guitar strum strike :)
Plus, a lot of other little goodies!

Very good. your really seem to put a lot of unusual
creativity.

good going!

Dreamy &mdash 03/04/05 - 06:18:13 AM
Dreamy and imaginative, even inside all those repeating
words. Like chants that move your spirit to new places.
Make me feel like Cat Stevens stuff does.

This is another one that gets better with repeated
listening. Starts out like a field holler, goes to a vodoo
chant around a campfire and ends up avant garde jazz.
Very cool. Like the dissonant guitar lick at the end. May
steal that one too.

Steal away, Tom. Thanks again for listening and for the colorful description of
this song.

Cool song... &mdash 02/09/07 - 11:18:55 PM
...and an extremely clean mix. I really dig this tune. Sparse and pretty with excellent harmonies.
