Description
This mix was originally one of those I completed to maybe use in the Space Race Challenge 2009 but it never made it. The original title I gave it was 'The Abbey on Rigel IV' but I couldn't imagine a planet that supported life in the Rigel system, so the title changed.

It's a little 'churchy' and has power in places. Watch your woofers!!

As always, I'm interested in your thoughts and comments about this or anything else you want to share.

Check Wikipedia for more info on Rigel, if you're intrigued. I know I did.

Dark
and very atmospheric. I can picture the scene on this distant planet. I was just looking around to see who else was in this part of the country. Put in Sheffield and up you came! Cheers Mark

Hi Stan......
I'm always around in Sheffield, even if its only in my thoughts. I'm a Sheffield/Yorkshire lad through and through.

Don't forget your sunglasses. Rigel's a bit bright this (or any) time of the year!!

Take care.

Aye for power
maybe even too much here and there? Sounds a bit distorted in places, but these sounds could also be taken for some scary worms moving around in the dirt on a planet "near" Rigel.

Stellar piece otherwise, dark but also with some lighter sprinkles, I think.

Hi Henke......
The Rigel sun is huge. The speakers for broadcasting this are the equivalent size of our moon. A bit of distortion would be apparent under these stellar conditions, I think. Bang and Olufsen haven't a branch out there just yet. Ergo THD still fairly high to huge.

Thanks for listening.

Take care.

Massive
Yes, that's appropriate. Love the big sound. Interesting that it is part of Orion, but in 3D, it's nowhere near the other stars in Orion. A lesson I learned from Cosmos. Made me think about the (lack of) significance of astrological configurations. Very bold composition.

Hi Duane........
It's interesting what you say about Rigel and I'm trying to find out more about Cosmos.

Your astrological comments I'll have to think about. I accept what you say without agreeing. If you're interested why, drop me a note and I'll try and explain my hypothetical views about this subject.

The 'boldness' had to come out, or be enhanced, after I read more about Rigel and current thoughts and findings about that system. I couldn't exactly stage the organ recital in a tent somewhere. It had to be BIG!!

Take care.

I've just had the operation (6th Feb) on my right hand and, apart from some on-going tingling and sensitivity (possible nerve damage) I can straighten my fingers out just fine. I'll never be a concert pianinst, but there again I never was. Ha ha. ... [see more]
