Description:
This is one of the first complete songs from The Invisible Friends, an internet collaboration project between myself and a good friend three hours away. Most of this song was done in Garageband, though I recut the vocals and did a new mix in my new love, Logic Express. Let us know what you think!

Song written by John Parker.

Acoustic guitar and vocals by John Parker. Electric guitars (12-string and 6-string) and bass by Jeremy Grassman.

Lyrics:
Should have seen it coming from the very start.

There’s no way we were getting out of this thing

with anything better than a pair of broken hearts.

Now we’re down to leaving scars on scars.

And this love it just bled like a wound to the head.

Man, why’s it gotta be so hard?

(it's why I’m sayin’)

That I don’t know you like you think I do.

I don’t know you like I should.

And if I told you just what you want me to,

would we still be saying goodbye for good?

It’s plain to see that this was never built to last.

But it’s hard to mind all the danger signs

when you’re in too deep moving way too fast.

Instead of slowing down you’re standing on the gas.

Not to say that you’re blind, but please open your eyes

Because I think we’re gonna crash

(and it’s why I’m sayin)

That I don’t know you like you think I do.

I don’t know you like I should.

And if I told you just what you want me to,

would we still be saying goodbye for good?

(I bet we would.)

Hardware:
Powerbook G4's, M-Audio Firewire 410's, electric 12-string, Les Paul, Oscar Schmidt acoustic, Peavey studio mic, and vast amounts of Dr. Pepper.

Dr. Pepper, huh. &mdash 01/02/05 - 08:18:20 PM
Hey that 12-string adds a great sound. Makes me think
of the Byrds. And don't take this the wrong way, but MJ
should have an alt.country section. This could work there
too.

The production on this tune is tight. Only thing missing
(IMHO) are some cool drum fills to propel this piece in the
latter stages of the song. Can't have everything, eh?

Kee p up the good work. This piece is great.
Downloaded.

Dr. Pepper, huh. &mdash 01/03/05 - 09:14:13 AM
Thanks, pooey. I've wished there was an Alt.Country section a few times, myself. Not all of our stuff would fit there, but there are a few that lean that way...like this one. We're looking to get Drums on Demand or similar to up the drum quality...so perhaps that will help it out a bit.

Awesome Song &mdash 01/02/05 - 08:53:24 PM
I can easily see this being a favorite for a lot of folks.
Smooth vocal, easy guitars, appropriate git lead and a
good mix. Nice work- I hit download within 30 seconds.

Nice song &mdash 01/03/05 - 07:00:45 AM
works well. Everything fits together and the singing has a
solid feel to it. Maybe needs a little more heat (like Pooey
said with the drum fills) but that's just my taste. Still, liked
it. Definitely one of the classier tracks that I have heard.

Would have preferred Coke instead of Dr.Pepper though...

Gin Blossoms redux &mdash 01/07/05 - 07:59:17 PM
Really reminds me of the best things about the gin
blossoms. like the hooky chorus and the performances
are right on.

Hate Dr. Pepper, love the song &mdash 01/08/05 - 11:42:39 PM
Sounds great all the way around. Vocal EQ sounds a little
"tinny" to me. And the backing vocals could come up a
little. Minor quibbles with a great song.

Easy to listen too. &mdash 02/24/05 - 08:26:30 PM
Like the song. Structure is put togther well. Nice
sound. Easy rhythm. Very good vocals. Easy to listen
too. Someone mentioned Gin Blossoms, I also
thought of the Rembrandts. I like them both and like
your tune also.

Make some more.

Great song... &mdash 03/28/05 - 09:42:40 AM
I get more of a fingers 11 feel than country. Great
production. Mix is really cool. Vocals are clear and up
front where they belong. Great guitar playing. Just a super
cool tune all around. Thx for sharing your music here.
