Description:
a very simple song

Lyrics:
I used to think I was Jesus
Come again to save the world
I used to think I was Jesus
Come again to save the world
Not a broken bone in my body
I could be the chosen one.

Did you ever think nothing is real
Except in your mind?
No people around you, no world,
No stars when you close your eyes
Did you think were Jesus
Come again to save the world?
It could be true
It could be true.

(chorus)
Keep looking for Jesus
Everywhere that you go
He could be a man on the street
He could be the Man in the Moon
Keep looking for Jesus
He may come back soon
If it’s true
If it’s true

I mean no disrespect
Singing this song
I know I might be right
Then again I might be wrong
I’m just looking for Jesus
Don’t you want to come along?

(repeat chorus)

Thanks Tobin. Not many people have heard this. I wasn't sure what the
reaction would be?

Simple, but very enjoyable &mdash 01/04/05 - 01:21:01 AM
Remonds me of Leon Redbone... I think... that's the first
name that came to my brain. Enjoyable lyrics and home
grown harmony!

I can dig it!

Wonderful &mdash 01/04/05 - 10:09:50 AM
That one simple guitar, great vocal harmonies in all their
simplicity. Funny lyrics too.

Guthrie... &mdash 01/04/05 - 11:35:58 AM
or John Prine. Is this an original tune? It sounds very familiar but I can't seem to put my finger on it. Good performance. I thought there were a couple of places in the song where the timing of lyrics seemed a bit off... or unsure. Instead of relaxed and fun. Overall, great job. Thanks for sharing.

Guthrie... &mdash 01/04/05 - 11:57:13 AM
When I lived in Nashville 10 years ago, John Prine was my neighbor (Green
Hills), but he did not write this song. However, I appreciate the comparison. If
you can put your finger on which particular song it reminds you of, let me
know!

Thanks.

p.s. this piece was recorded in one take, guitar and voice together on one
mic, placed somewhere in the middle. Maybe that's why it sounds a little
unsteady in places. It is a roughcut with the 2nd voice, the harmony, added
later.

Simply excellent &mdash 01/05/05 - 12:34:09 AM
Good song. Crisp, engaging vocals.

I have to praise you like I should.. &mdash 01/05/05 - 02:32:10 PM
As Fatboyslim once said. Ahem, yeah, very nicely
understated. Almost barber shop in places.

Religious.

brilliant &mdash 01/06/05 - 12:48:19 PM
something simple is full of the greatest complexity, sometimes. thanks for keeping this one simple. the little hesitations you put in your vocal performace lends an understated subtle humility to the performance, coupled with the simple approach and everything spells: GREAT.

beware of the snake &mdash 01/06/05 - 03:57:06 PM
I adore this piece! Great harmoies and guitar work. The
only thing that I think could ever make this song better is
a little bit of a de-esser on the vocals, though my
headphones are very highendy making each ess sound
like a snake on the verge of attacking.

beware of the snake &mdash 01/06/05 - 04:07:41 PM
Thanks Leila. Sometimes I feel like an old man, doddering around here,
defending my quaint technical shortcomings. I need to upgrade.

This is truly timeless &mdash 01/14/05 - 02:27:32 PM
This could be a John Prine tongue-in-cheek, could be a born again hymn; could be sung by a child, could be the riddle of a wise man; could be light as it sounds, as heavy as it hints. You balance it all in ditty form yet there is so much. Really genius.

Oh Yeah I Like &mdash 02/23/05 - 10:45:50 PM
Thanks for putting the compilation together which
pointed me to this song. Great little song and the
performance was perfect. If have your permission I might
steal this one for my famous living room performances. I
would of course give you the songwriting credit.

this out. I really appreciate it.

...earth-wide hit &mdash 03/04/05 - 06:36:38 AM
This could be the best song with the most potential to
become an earth-wide hit. I have to listen to it again,
again...
