The Pianist (central theme) Symphony 101

Description
Yves Baar (Symphony 101) wrote this as an homage to Richard Wright and Eric Woolfson. He was not happy with his original lyrics and asked me to re-write them. I did and sang them, as well. It was my distinct pleasure. Here is the central theme from Symphony 101's The Pianist. We hope you like it.

Lyrics
Music notes dance in my brain
I become seventeen again
Because, those days, I still recall
I know those times last after all
Rainy day visions in my sight
Are painted by black notes on white
Notes on pages, like drops of rain
I'm young again, with each refrain
Your inspiration, it now seems
Built secret places in my dreams
>
Long hours through my day and night-
You helped me put my wrong to right
Have you no more left to impart;
And no more songs to touch my heart?
I've no power to make you stay
So our story must end this way
Years go by; we all grow old
But new stories must still be told
It's your sad passing that's my plight
The pianist..he won't play tonight
>
Depending on you may be wrong
Though I have done that for so long
It was your music brought you fame
And your person, I still acclaim
I'm one of many at the gate
Standing alone is what I hate
Colored leaves scatter on the ground
Cold September reigns all around
Mem'ries of you, they fade, I fear
None of your music, do I hear

Lyrics: Charlene M. Kankiewicz, Yves Baar

Magnificent Char !
I'm jumping in for a more "public" thank you. Thank you so much for creating the lyrics in such an elegant way (with such a quick inspiration), beautiful melody line and your amazing voice ! I'm so privileged for having this great experience collaborating with you.

lost quenching chords are revived showcased
lost quenching chords are revived showcased
dense-with-emotion tension-grabbing-absorbant-in-that-you relieved-mine oh the majestic timpani build into exposition of naked bawlzee piano subject entering strongly at 3:00 stating "I am here with you now" - sultry brassy crushed velvet at 4:12 - playing with knowledge of just how to demonstrate this one particular piano's life story lost quenching chords are revived showcased mixing your crystaline voice of enigmatic warmth within this cherrylight
even the final second's fade once again brimming with gently cultured "until laters"

You seem
to be swept away on lost quenching chords, :). I'm not sure I understand but it sounds very beautiful. There is more to this work, of course and it will be posted by Symphony 101, on his page. He insisted that I do this. (It was the only argument we had.) Thank you. :)

Wow!
This is quite some piece of music. It reminds me a little of "The Persecution and Assasination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates at Charenton" (or something like that ;-) Also an amazing piece of music.

I'm not familiar with
that. This is only a little bit of the entire composition. The piece soars. I've grown to resonate with it. After I played it umpteen times I appreciate what Yves did here, more and more. Thank you, Richard. :)

enjoyed the original music and tribute...
and enjoy Char's update to this... good choice, Yves. The vox are a little tinny, and could be EQ'ed a bit to drop some of the higher frequencies (which Char, you WILL be figuring out, despite you saying it's beyond you now :-) But other than that minor technical thing, the orchestration, words, and singing are great.

I knew I shouldn't try

to sing in a sub under water. I tried really hard to retain Yves' intent. I don't know why he asked me but I'm glad he did. I got to listen to this over and over and liked it more and more with each listen. Thank you for all the support. :)

Big, brave sound! Thanks for attacking this project. This is epic and special. It is hard to grasp the many levels of nuance here in musicality and genius.

piece; my part is but a little of the whole. I think Yves is pleased. So, I am, as well. :)

Char Char Char...
Clearly a beautiful piece of art before you arrived to the scene, Char, but when one can illuminate pain in the way that you do, creating such palatable brilliance of how pain and beauty can coexist to become one... ...in an odd way, it kinda brings comfort to what's to be known about some of life's more challenging moments... it just had to be coming from you, Mizz Lady of this everlasting moment! Good to hear your voice again!

oh... i'm afraid to ask, but i'm used to not being so bright - this is a live performance, the music, orchestra and all, right?... Please tell me that it is so... It's just so beautiful! Almost makes me wanna hurt - whoever said that befor... Wonderful work all the way around! Thanks to Yves for sharing and as well, for allowing you/us this honor! I be humbled. Dion

Dion, my guy..
you are truly one of the most creative people here. And you have such a big heart, so full of understanding. I sound a bit scratchy but I think that was because I was into the feeling. I think the performance is made up of Yves in his studio and me in my room. You are very much appreciated, Dion. It is good to see you around. I love the Mizz Lady. So cute. Thank you. :)

Hey Dion
Just a quick detail, all orchrestral instruments are actually virtual instruments. Lucky enough today, there are possibilities for the average musician (in my case less then average) to do interesting things with the help of technology. So for these, playing keyboard was sufficient. Thank you so much for your appreciation.

I do think the best thing about collaborations is that I am more involved with the music and in the several listens, I hear so much more and appreciate all the different parts. I've never been this involved with music before. I am pleased you think I did it justice. Thanks. :)

The Pianist (central theme)
Very pretty theme. The well sung lyrics seem to catch the mood of the piece perfectly. The vocal phrasing and melody feels like a show tune or a theme song for a movie to me. The vocs sound up a db or 2 too much compared to the rest of the tracks, and they also seem like they are in another eq space. Maybe back off some of the high frequencies in this track.

Great homage piece!
I'm sort of embarrassed that I never heard of the two mentioned above, but if Yves and yourself has done a piece for them, then it's worth it to learn more about them.

First off-I love your voice Char. Lovely and unique, I can't help but be drawn into your story. I wish someday we can collaborate and create new stories with your lovely voice.

Yves composition is great, especially 3:00 with the lovely piano solo. Sad but peaceful. All other parts were good to my ears.

I'm glad to have found this gem! Thanks so much for sharing. Take care-patty

Very sweet of you.
This was Yves conception. I can't say I know who a lot of musicians are, either. The first was in the band, Pink Floyd and the second was a member of The Alan Parson's Project. You are more than kind. The entire piece is on Yves' page, Symphony 101. He insisted I place this shorter version here. Our thanks for listening. :)
