Your Smile (with five_extra_arms)

Description
I've been working on this one for a while and the more I worked on it the more I could hear Mr, 5 Extra Arms' unique and wonderful vocal stylings on this. So when Bob himself suggested we do a collab I only had to say yes and send the file off to him. He sent me 4 vocal loops and an extra synth bit he'd added and everything just came together wonderfully.
Crank up the volume is always the best way.
Many thanks to 5 Extra Arms and hope you like it
Cheers

Lyrics

I LOVE YOUR SMILE
IT’S THE FIRST THING I SAW
WHEN YOU STROLLED PAST ME
SO UNFORGETTABLY

I REMEMBER THE DAY
I REMEMBER THE HOUR
I REMEMBER YOUR SMILE
AND IT’S IMMEASURABLE POWER

LOVE IS PATIENT
LOVE IS KIND
YOU ARE ALWAYS ON MY MIND

YOU KNOW I LOVE YOUR EYES
THEY WAY YOU LOOKED AT ME
AS I HELD MY BREATH
AND GOT DOWN ON MY KNEE

LOVE BEARS ALL THINGS
BELIEVES ALL THINGS
HOPES ALL THINGS
ENDURES ALL THINGS

LOVE IS PATIENT
LOVE IS KIND
YOU ARE ALWAYS ON MY MIND

YOU’VE GOT SO MUCH STYLE
IN EVERYTHING YOU DO
IT’S A MORE COLORFUL WORLD
SINCE THE DAY I FELL IN LOVE WITH YOU

LOVE IS PATIENT
LOVE IS KIND
YOU ARE ALWAYS ON MY MIND

Brilliant!
What a combination. Wonderful insistent wall of sound and Mr Extra Arms caps it in his inimitable style.

Cheers

Ta Dick
I 'm really pleased with how it all turned out.
In my mind I could hear Bobs vocals on the unfinished track...and he managed to take it even one step further than what I imagined.
Thanks for the listen and dropping in
cheers

has a peter murphy feel
really like the poppy vocal styling - the quick phrasing and the doubled tracks - and the 'love is patient/love is kind' concept. also really like the 'i love your smile' refrain in the outtro. musically i like the wandering lead in the verse and the lofty bit at the end of the chorus, and also the simple but hooky little solo. lots of nice guitar. and those signature 5 extra synths. very cool 'up' 80's synth pop type vibe kids. i dig it.

cheers Tempie
The song wouldn't be the same without the 5 Extra magic touch. I was quite happy with the music I'd written but it just needed that bit of icing on the cake and thankfully Bob provided it.
Glad you liked it and thanks for dropping in

Cool
I love the way it rises. The techno beat and bass with the guitars laying down the power chords is a great marriage of contrasting sounds and styles. Very cool british pop sounding vocal. The chorus is a great hook.

It must be the influences that makes Bob vocals sound like cool british pop cos he lives in the States.
Me and Bob have a lot of favorite bands in common.
I think I chucked loads of bits in and it sort of came out like an electro indian raga..with a touch of techno.
Thanks for the listen and the comments

Nice one!
This works really well - I really like the backing for starters, and Bob's vocals are just right. The little bit of calm at 1:44 works perfectly - and just as I was about to mention "needs some light and shade" too :)
I'd be very pleased with myself coming up with something this good.
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

Your Smile (with five_extra_arms)
Has a 80s' feel for me. Cool chord progressions, good vocs, good complementary sound choices.

Your Smile
Hey King!

Great tune!

I was pretty excited to clab with one of my favorite rockers here at MacJams, but I was shocked and surprised that he already had a tune with my name on it! That doesn't happen every day for me, so you can imagine (or maybe you can't).

You did a ace job on the mix and I even like the stuttering vocal treatment you created at the end. This was a very smart project for us to hookup on as I feel like the two of us were on the same page from the go. Hard to deny our similar musical influences. Glad we had a chance to meld minds and put out some vinyl for the kids to rock out on! So what's in store for the B-Side?

BTW - I love the Lego Mona Lisa image you chose! That's perfect!

A pleasure
It was great working with you.
If it had been the other way round of me putting vocals on one of your songs it would have taken me months to write some lyrics.
Took me a while to get your vox loops cut up and repeated to fit in place but think it works well
Glad you liked the photo.
A pleasure working with you
cheers

cleaning up
I actually have this song ear marked for a compilation CD of the best songs to do the cleaning and washing up to :-)
What I ( still) find amazing is that not only is it 2 different people on MJ's..but it's two people seperated by miles of water and land and who have never met face to face ( yet ) but through this wonderful technology can write a song together.
Anyway, glad you liked it and thanks for your comments

you know
you know I am a big fan of your stuff kingbee

but this reminds me alot of the stuff that i grew up listening to....like stabbing westward but with a lot less depressing feel..

its clear that you get alot of techno/industrial influence....but I like how the main focus is the rock and roll and that the synth takes not necessarily a backseat...but a passenger seat to the electric guitar parts.

this song is great....we need more!
