Description
Sorry I been gone so long but I had my reasons. To get back into the swing and get myself going again here is a Trad Folk song by Stephen Foster. I have changed the structure somewhat and even the melody on the verses. The Choruses are unchanged however. Hope you like it!

Satisfying treatment
Your unique sense of rhythm comes across in the vocal ,harp, everything. And a heartfelt performance. Very nice. Good to hear another from you.

You do such instantly enjoyable stuff!
Great recording Neal - love the guitar parts. They remind me of Andy Irvine, who used similar style timing on his bouzouki when I saw him live in 2005. That show inspired me to get back to playing music after many years off.
The longer I'm listening to this, the more I like it. Great vocals, and the bass is perfect for your version.
A very classy and enjoyable version of one of my favourite trad folk tunes.
Gotta love a harp and harp outro ;)
Cheers from Oz,
Neil

Amber Timbre
amber timbre
this song commands full attention -
it is so much like "The Byrds" 'further along'
L.P. ("Antique Angie" especially) - it honestly really reminds me of this -
vocal-wise - much character-timbre in your vocals - especially - the bass line is
really cool here - I must have missed out on a lot - not knowing much about foster -
for many years - only this/your song has ever had the power to cut through and
remind me of antique angie living by the sea.

Applause!
Stephen Foster truly was a great composer (sometimes called America's first great composer) and it is nice seeing his music get a well deserved fine treatment here Neal. This was excellently and expertly performed...thanks!

What a Sound!
There's a pain and tension in your vocal that matches the song so well. Some really wonderful touches. The modern sounding bass. The acoustic guitars are great. The production and mix rank up there with the best I've heard here. Yeah I'm a fan!

World weary vocs convey the lyric perfectly. The acoustic guitar brings a contemporary feel. I really like the harmonica part.

I like this song a lot...
You give a fitting and unique treatment... yet one that is in keeping with Foster. I like the light movement in this arrangement. And of course, your singing and harp are fine. Roxylee and I did a version a while back. Foster's song is timeless.

Need to go to the original, but I guess nobody made sound this song like you before. Better than great guitar and singing.

Hey J
Glad your back, this treatment is a treasure.
Foster is neglected as a whole, I would suggest it is very important to be aware of how he places his ideas into "things." This single thing is enough to warrant his classic songs being relevant to our age. Additionally there is his sense of melody and the "lilt" associated with his rhythmic creations.
Thanks for posting this tune.
