Description:
This is my daughter Breanna's song. She wrote the melody and lyrics, and sang the lead and harmony vocals, backed up by other family members. Bre is 12. The cellos are real, the bass and string section are midi. We used CAD e100 mikes for live stereo tracks.

Lyrics:
If I could stop one heart from breaking
Oh just one more heart from aching
Soon the love will reach to everyone
Oh everyone

Tak someone¹s hand
Show someone peace
Oh put someone¹s heart at ease
And show the world how it¹s better for everyone
Oh everyone

It¹s just one heart
It¹s only one person
Well every great chorus
Starts with the first one
We¹re all the ones who will change for the better
For everyone

If I could stop one heart from breaking
Oh just one more heart from aching
Soon the love will reach to everyone
Oh everyone

All the people
Young and old
well something in their hearts is as pure as gold
We can change the world
One by one
With everyone

On the inside we¹re all the same
But for judging each other
We¹re all to blame
We¹ve all been hurt
And if we try we can change that too
With everyone
That means you

If I could stop one heart from breaking
Oh just one more heart from aching
Soon the love will reach to everyone
Oh everyone

Great song! Not just because she's 12. Really good
writing and singing. The performances could be better in
places, but still sweet. The actual recording/mixing
quality has a lot to be desired. Bre's voice could come
foreward, and I'd drop the effects on her lovely voice.
What a joy it must be to make music with the family like
this.

Use the Cello! &mdash 01/03/05 - 06:23:47 AM
What a wonderful voice. Breanna should be supported
more by the cello rather than the effects. I dare say it
would bring more richness and a certain fullness to her
efforts.

Please post the lyrics.

The effects on her voice were an artifact of my inexperience in mixing. By the
time we added the two drum loops, two bass tracks, backing vocals, synth
strings, electric piano, etc., the lead vocal tgrack was too low in the mix, so I
copied the lead vocal track to give her voice more presence. The slight phase
differences I could not quite get rid of. I hope to get better at the mixing
part. It is great to make family music for fun.

Very nice song. Breanna is a young star on the rise. She sings with a
pathos not usually present in a 12-year-old. Nice fluidity in the singing
and instrumentation. Talent runs strong in the family as I have recently
hear brother Josh's songwriting and singing. Excellent!

Maybe a bit less reverb (or a better reverb plug-in) on Breanna's
voice...sounds a little bit like she's in a metal can at times. Overall.
quite a pleasing listen.

I WOULD &mdash 12/27/05 - 01:15:28 PM
Like to hear her do more Jazz tunes! Ithink a real slick produced song with great vocal production could make her sound truly amazing! This sounds really good! Great pipes!

Partridge Family?

Well done. This is inspiring for me. It will be greatly appreciated by
my eight year old who loves music and is facinated by MacJams!

Beautiful!

Beautiful song &mdash 12/29/05 - 12:03:56 AM
and a beautiful voice - it's nice to hear arrangements like this, love the backing choral harmonies and the simple tambourine and string section. Wow, what a dynamo - you've definitely got a brilliant musical future ahead of you, girl!

In the absence of my sister Bre, who's song this is, let me say thank you very much for the kind words. The background vocals were recorded live by my dad, myself and my other fantastically talented little sister Kira, who at the time was 10. Hopefully I can convince her to record some more of her songs for the macjam audience out there. It's truly astounding to hear how much her voice has matured in the past year.
