Description
I was listening to old GB files and came across this one. Kind of strange, but I was in an experimental phase when I recorded this.

Lyrics
By the Sea

Seagulls float on a salty shelf of air
Crying out each care and woe
Sun catches wave and they battle for the right
To color or ignite the sea

We stand alone wishing we could be
Forever by the sea, forever we

The gull rises high parting from the shore
searching for the more beyond
Why can't I walk the sparkle of the sea
A highway to the dreams of you

We must wake let our eyes fill finally
Follow moonpaths on the sea, follow me

The symphony of ocean, breeze and sand
Has made our love expand past this life
The spilling tear catches sparkles never known
As if the sea had grown from your eye

At last the gull returns from mystery
Tied to us eternally, by the sea

syncopation or swim
strange indeed, but catchy. warm and swinging in a cool breeze, just like it is by the sea. A very nice listen.

A name change from the friendly dragon? How intriguing. Thank you for listening and commenting. "Strange" seemed appropriate for it, not that strange is bad. Just... odd.

I love
the freshness and originality of this... it's as though your taking snapshots and translating into music. Love the chords and those harmonies in the multi tracks are just gorgeous... great voice for jazz you've got Joanna, regards M

another...
smoky lounge jazz standard from Joanna. And another good one to boot. I like this phase you were in. I think it brings out your strengths of improv and a kind of vocal-acting, if you get what I mean.

I like this!

Heya Jack! I've been having a blast listening to old song starts and experimentations. I found another one that has potential. I'll have to record a new vocal, but I like the idea and it has full orchestration. Not as jazzy as this one, but still fun. Thanks for the encouragement!

comfey
layers of comfey utterings - silken - an edie brickell sound - and a smooth experimental phase it was - vocals skipping refreshing unexpected intervals - an effective 2:35 collage statement - "by the sea"

Loose sands
Lots of cool ideas here. I thought the looseness of the backing vocals and rhythmic looseness generally detracted from the overall effect of the lyrics and nice writing. Have you considered re-recording it with a tighter vocal? Thanks for sharing this long hidden track.
