Description
gratitude, mystery, wonder, grace...they are all part of this light & melodic, mildly orchestral track. [The creative process amazes me - how very simple and at times doubtful concepts that seem to be going nowhere, suddenly transform through patience and persistence into something quite pleasing and unexpected...]

a lighter shade of blues
gentle but driven... soft but focused... a very welcome new splash of color from you... quite bearable now, after such a long wait for new music.

Finally
I leave my scratch on the public wall of discussion. I had so much written down, down that Command-R function.

Anyway, I like that this is so organic. It is so well organic that the intro synth bass seems a little out of place to me. The flute and chimes and drums are all very physical and they feel like they are actually being played as opposed to being manipulated by a sampler. Very nice, liked that.

The constant shift between the two different drum beats is a little bit distracting as they are both very different from each other. It seems that the first, more acoustic beat that you introduce fills its sound spectrum a lot better than the clicky one that follows, which is low on bass. I think it needs that bass boost, so I would try to, instead of switching the type of beat and the drum, just play out a different drum pattern on the original drum kit (If it's a DR Rex loop, all the better. Either play a new beat out on the existing sample kit, add or remove some of the pieces of the original percussion phrase to make a variation on the same thing.

I really like the chord progression you use through the song, but I think it would be more effective if you used the bridge that comes in around 1:40 a lot sooner. It would prevent the original "chorus" melody from going stale from repetition. I really like that piano riff that you bring in in the bridge, and the fact that it comes late makes me wish there was more! And then there isn't. Oh well haha.

On the whole, this was quite nice. Mix-wise, it is very very good. The sounds mesh nicely, except for that drum kit I was talking about and also the flute, which could use some EQ in the upper range.

At the end, it sounded so real and organic. Very VERY good job on that. I half expected an applause from a real crowd.

Good job. :D

Thanks for the detailed review!
Matt, I really do appreciate the amount of effort you have put into providing this constructive feedback (and on other tracks as well) - I do consider it carefully and it is progressively influencing the way I put these songs together. Thank you so much...and glad you quite liked it as well.
