Description
To be in Love! That magical, wonderful...no other feeling like it!

This song was recorded about 20 years ago on reel to reel. In 1990 I took off from Ballard, WA to Surfside, CA in an old red Chevy Citation to visit my brother. I left behind an early budding romance for the adventure of road-tripping through the National Parks along the way...Crater Lake, Red Woods, Lasen National, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National. Whew!! I had some time on the beach and my thoughts returned to the young man I left behind. The lyrics were born to Rush of Waves and after my pestering and prodding, my bro Johnny Blues recorded my vocal and piano and mastered up my rough guitar with his creative bridges and "tripping" instrumental.

Lyrics
Rush of Waves - ConnieO & Johnny Blues

Peaceful we lie face to face
Exchange breathes in long embrace
Rush of Waves (Rush of Waves)
A hold of tenderness that's strong
With hope the night won't pass to dawn
Away...Like the Rush of Waves (Rush of Waves)

Now I'm away from the Rush of Waves
No guarantee he says
Rush of Waves (Rush of Waves) Rush of Waves (Rush of Waves)

Infatuation I seek not
Nor in Love thoughts of tying knots
But the Rush of Waves (Rush of Waves)
For we live to name life
With flames of passion, Lust for Life
And Spirit the same

Now I'm away from the Rush of Waves
No guarantee he stays
Rush of Waves (Rush of...) Rush of Waves (Rush of...)

Your breathing near my soul's content
The pounding of your heart makes spent
My need of flesh warm not cool
You gave me Love, now am I fool...?
To the Rush of Waves (Rush of Waves) Rush of Waves (Rush of Waves)

(Instrumental...Take it away Johnny Blues!)

I look beyond the here and now
And wait and bear while I am gone
Away...
From the Rush of Waves (Rush of Waves) Rush of Waves....

Rush Of Waves
Really great vocal. I wish it was just a tad louder. But it still comes across beautifully. In some ways this sounds like a track that was left off "Dreamboat Annie."

Sweet and complex
at the same time! Gorgeous voice, wish it was up a little in the mix. It should be the prominent part of the song. Great guitar work...

Excellent piece! Like the change of pace too! Very nice guys!

hey Connie - nice to see you around these parts again! this ballad is terrific - as others have commented already, i would like to hear your voice a little more up front in the mix - especially when you go up high. you've got a great voice! cool guitar - your bro did a fine job mastering this. welcome back!

Rush Of Waves
Nice arrangement and the vocs sound great (should be up a db or 2). The tempo change between the sections is interesting.

rush of waves
i love the 20 years ago feel of this. it reminds me instantly of an artist called julia singing a song called 'white horses'. wow...where did that come from at 1.10....must have been that acid tab i took..or you took. hey connie....this is wild..it's going everywhere...but it all works and everything finds its place within the whole. the ending is a total gem....joni mitchell got nothin on you babe (is it ok to call you babe?)

Excellent... but...
Something's wrong here... you did this 20 years ago? I've never heard a 12 year old sound that good!

Excellent lyrics, songwriting playing and singing, and your brother did a superb job with the backing music, love the prog-rock feel of this... but your voice definitely is the instrument to enjoy here, and I wish it were slightly more prominent in the mix. Thank you for sharing this one with us, and yes, love is the ultimate inspiration... although the rush of waves and wind is great too, what an amazing trip!

great voice
Interesting music for sure. The abrupt change of tempos reminds me of some of those rock operas or themed albums meant to be played from beginning to end.

But the bottom line here is, that your voice is a treasure.

Renaissance
Yes, someone said Karen Carpenter meets Renaissance. I would have created some vocal motif's over the instrumentals so you would keep more "ownership" of the song, but all in all this was a fun song to listen to, very honest. BTW you go easy on him.
