Description
Thought I would put some loops together and then started making some of my own within this piece. I like it for an exercise song...great for running! It is a blend of latin, rock and electronic. My first piece posted here....I have a zillion ideas in the works but as you know.....it takes time! Thanks for listening.

Hey
Great mix of loops and live playing. Nice touch on the
keys. This piece does come very close to having too many
different motifs. Like that first melody on the piano--I
liked the sound of it, but before it could really develop or
sink in, it was gone.

But that piano playing throughout is tasty. Doubles with
the strings--nice. Lots of nice sounds.

There is one spot just before the midway point where a
piano loop is playing a major third against the bass' minor
third. I'd suggest changing that with the edit window.

For as long as the piece is, it kept my attention and was
nice to listen to. High quality stuff for a first submission.
Keep 'em coming!

Hey
Oh, and as far as classifying this tune goes, Latin is out. I hate to say it but
electronic/dance is most appropriate. Perhaps ambient electronica.

Hey
Thanks very much for the input...yes, I'll check out the bass minor against the
piano major. What a great forum. So often I feel like I'm working in a
vacuum...my family doesn't "get it" if you know what I mean.

I dug it
Take a little bit of Sting (circa 1995) a smidge of simply red, a fair amount of Lalo Schiffrin and a huge dollop of the Propellorheads and you have ... cool :-)

would love to work out to this
I like the old school dirty organ sounds you're getting -
sort of Stevie Wonder Songs In the Key of Life... nice
groove and meshes well with the rhythm. the piano bit is
splendid, really tasteful. What really stands out is how
you blended together all the rhythm loops and separated
them in the mix -- everything is very cohesive, yet has it's
own spot. Would love to hear some vocals in here. There
are some great hooks ou could really buld a funky song
around.

Great for running...
At 48 frames per second, heh! Got that slower speed thing
happening. As your first post with a loops based song, I
foresee great things to come from you (am I some kinda'
Jedi now?). Definitely exposes strong musical sensibilities,
in my opinion...

Look forward to more

Great for running...
Thanks for your kind words.....I have lots of cool stuff in the works and just
can't seem to lay it down fast enough....then there's the mixing thing, and
balance....I am going to work on vocals though as I can sing but have to
strengthen the voice....too many instruments, not enough time! As far as
running...heh, a 5 minute warm up and get that heart rate up in the zone!

This is such a great forum...you all are very helpful!

not a bad tune...
....pretty good, actually. The piano really holds it all
together well. The only thing I didn't like was the
background techno-synth sounds. It seemed like an
unnecessary decorative element just thrown in for
the hell of it. Keep making tunes, though!

instruments, there always seemed to be something new
coming along. the guitar & percussive accents are just
perfect. lookin forward to the next one

oh, i don't think this falls under 'ambient elec', but i can't
think of another genre for it. maybe someone can offer
some help..

Very nice
I think this is excellent. It certainly does stay
interesting all the way through. There's a lot going
on, but I think that's where it gets its energy from.

Groovin'
I like how this piece 'goes somewhere.' The pacing, the
interest in the different layers of sounds. Great piano
contrasting with the more 'busy' instrumentals in the
background.
You have a good ear for balance, tempo, and overall
composition.
Looking forward to hearing more! :)

Keeps the chicken funky!
A fantastic mixture of sounds and styles. You've got a
real ear for layering and ordering the sounds in a way
that works very well. My only negative point would be
that it maybe goes on for just a little too long and
then ends weakly. I notice that many Mac Jammers
have problems with endings and this is a typical
example. It just sort of fades out for no particular
reason. Otherwise, a great first piece. Keep them
coming. Sorted!

Excellent
Mix of sounds/loops and keyboard playing - well done.
TennesseeVic said 1744 days ago (February 16th, 2005)
The problem with loops
is that you can only string so many of them together
before the listener wonders "when is the intro going to
end?". I see in your later tracks that you're actually writing
songs with loops.

But even this shows that you know how to blend stuff
together. Good production.

funkin delicate.
I like the loops you chose. I like the clavs and the
piano phrasings, they fit so well. Nice balance of raw
sound meets delicate feeling. It even sounded good
on my ibook speakers. That's saying alot. I can't wait
to hear it with the cans.

Good driving tune. 45 mph, would envoke the right
tempo sycronization i think. It's nice and steady,
without sounding repetitive.

Stays fresh. Exciting. Equally well produced and
performed.

Can't think of any immediate areas of improvement,
especially with these speakers. But I'll let you know if
you ask.

Great tune....from the tuner.

Very Interesting
This is a very cool song! I like the mix that you did with the rock power cords in the background towards the start of the song and how you mixed it in with piano, and every once in a while you cut out the drums, and it made for an interesting mix!
