Description:
No-one has failed to be touched by the recent events in Asia.
I wrote this song for those survivors left with nothing.
I am very grateful to Alimar for adding his considerable talents not only on vocals but for producing the whole track.
The artwork is a picture taken of a lady left with nothing in Indonesia from the 'Hindustani Times' photos.

Lyrics:
MEMORY by Slim Girl Fat:
And as the night is passing by:
I cannot see the dream:
Its faded out of sight:
And I was holding on to you :
But felt you slip away:
I could not hold you tight:
And in my memory I'll see your smiling eyes:
You'll never cry the tears I do or see the hurt inside of me:
And we never knew that time:
Was shorter than we knew:
There was no warning sign:
Although I'm searching here for you:
I cannot see the way:
I dare not face the truth:
And in my memory I'll see your smiling eyes:
You'll never cry the tears I do or see the hurt inside of me:
A thousand times a thousand times
My heart will break into a shattered melody:
For all I loved and held so dear:
Is wrapped inside a memory:
And as the night is passing by:
I cannot see the dream:
It's faded out of sight:
And in my memory Ill see your smiling eyes:
You'll never cry the tears I do or see the hurt inside of me:

The right song for the right time &mdash 01/05/05 - 07:46:02 PM
Wonderful arrangement, I was moved. With the world in
shock with the most recent tragedy, it is a wonder if
anyone can find relief. This piece for me puts it into
perspective. Great job you two! Thank you for a wonderful
and moving piece.

great collaberation &mdash 01/05/05 - 07:52:55 PM
You guys put togeather a fantastic song. It's great all
around but, Slim, the way you sing it is what I love the
most. You have such a distingctive sound. Alimar's
vocals are very complimentary to it. Really great job.
I hope to take you up on the collaberation offer sometime. [ Reply to This ]
Beatiful and evocative &mdash 01/05/05 - 10:32:18 PM
Both of you did a wonderful job with this haunting piece.
Brava and bravo. [ Reply to This ]
Very nice. &mdash 01/05/05 - 10:39:18 PM
Had me up and down... &mdash 01/06/05 - 01:02:06 AM
I really wanted this song to get bigger and richer by the
second verse. It seemed to stay in this small area that
doesn't step outside its boundaries. Then again,
considering its subject matter, maybe it shouldn't have,
but I'm trying to keep its sentiment at bay to objectively
critique the song.
That said, this is another one of your stronger vocal
performances. There's definitely a chemistry between your
voice and Alimar's, blending seamlessly together for the
second time! Do I hear a virtual band forming? [ Reply to This ]
Goosebumps &mdash 01/06/05 - 04:43:54 AM
I loved the harmonies! It gave me goosebumps! I agree
with Pack-O-Smokes, the soung could use some fleshing
out to make a bigger sound. [ Reply to This ]
Very touching &mdash 01/06/05 - 07:21:23 AM
The lyrics are well written and the whole song is very
sober (which is a very good thing). Very well done. [ Reply to This ]
so moving &mdash 01/06/05 - 08:08:06 AM
...I don't know what to write. The personal perspective is gripping, and the softness of the music is the perfect compliment for the vocal. This is very, very good, incredibly sad, but good. I could see were it could easily get overblown, so I really appreciate the restraint in the production. [ Reply to This ]
Dreamy, watery, fratcure, tragic... &mdash 01/06/05 - 08:20:30 AM
Alimar's harmonies are thrilling, embracing and warm,
great notes sung in just the right way and such a
compelling sound created by the mix, they really complete
this tune. Like adding mutli-dimensions. (Altho they are
a tad too loud in my headphones compared to the music
bed.) The backing rhythms have this dreaming, watery,
fractured feel that is chilling and moving; and the synth
has a perfect progressive floating aspect, with the attack
giving it an ethnic feel with just the right touch. Slimmie,
you did a fantastic job giving this song just the right feel.
Could've trailed on forever. Timely and moving. [ Reply to This ]
Poignant... &mdash 01/06/05 - 08:54:37 AM
A sense of listening to something sacred. Beautifully sung
by the both of you. You have touchingly captured and
expressed something of this tragedy with your music that
honors those who have perished as well as those who
remain.
Thank you for this moment.

Tragic... &mdash 01/06/05 - 09:42:40 PM
...not the song, though. Well done, dudes. The backing is
simple and spot-on.
I can't imagine what these people are going through
-particularly the ones who had someone they loved
literally torn out of their grasp forever- but I think your
lyrics give insight.
"And in my memory I'll see your smiling eyes: You'll never
cry the tears I do or see the hurt inside of me" - moving.

Well done, guys... &mdash 01/07/05 - 10:12:31 AM
The music reminded me a little of "Take Me Home"
by Genesis...or was that Phil by himself? Oh well. I
think Slim's singing and the meaning behind the
lyrics elevates this song beyond that one, however.
I like how the dripping synth tones in the
background evoke flowing water. It could use some
subtle warm strings in there - just a suggestion.
Nice song. [ Reply to This ]
wonderful... &mdash 01/07/05 - 11:16:58 AM
Your voices sound perfect together, Kate Bush and Peter
Gabriel... Don't give up. Very appropriate. [ Reply to This ]
wonderful... &mdash 07/19/06 - 04:52:38 PM
Exactly!...I thought this too when I heard this tune...Kate and Peter, together again... I'm late listening to your music slimmie, now that you've got you thing going with the BBC...but this is a very nice song. Great use of synths, mood, stereo separation...on and on...

capturing a tragic time &mdash 01/09/05 - 10:17:26 AM
This is a very moving song with lovely, poignant
harmonies. Great job, Slimmie and Alimar!
I like the accompaniment also; it's quite imaginative. It's
low-key, rather understated -- perfect for the serious
subject matter. It captures that "aftermath" time, digging
out from under this disaster. [ Reply to This ]

Heartfelt expression &mdash 01/13/05 - 05:11:03 PM
This is wonderful. I'm not really inclined to nitpick about
the production. The piece transcends that. Thank you
both for reflecting on this tragic event that has so sorely
affected an untold number of people. The tragedy is
brought home to my safe inland abobe with your wailful
ballad. The song will hopefully evoke responses in those
whose lives and fortunes remain unshattered. [ Reply to This ]

Beautiful &mdash 01/24/05 - 08:39:32 AM
Wow this one got me good. &mdash 02/24/05 - 04:20:02 AM
Beautiful are your vocals, but you already know that. I
also commend the harmonizations. I think that the male
vocalist could stand to come up in level a bit, but then I
have always been a sucker for the third of the chord......I
just love the way it feels........so perhaps you may think it
fine the way it is.
Great justice you have supplied to such a sensitive topic
as the Tragedy in Asia. I was particulary touched by the
lines "You'll never cry the tears I do or see the hurt inside
of me". That is the way I feel sometimes.........and it just
goes to show you that we are all capable of hurting one
another in ways that we may even know.
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful Song. Great Vocals. [ Reply to This ]

You guys did a phenom job on this. Phil Collins meets Traci Thorn. The lyrics, Vocal, music are all ridiculously good. Almost soundtrack epic but with lots of heart in plain and simple words. It works and I'm really diggin it. My fav slimmie track. wow [ Reply to This ]
