Description

Here are notes from James, which I think describes best the song :

"First Thank you Yves for taking so much time and effort on this.
I wrote this melody/lyric to an open collab by Michael_2 and wanted to do a different version. I sent Yves the vocal track and he came up with this awesome track that I re-recorded a different style vocal/melody hopefully to compliment this style.
We tried several tempos and Yves was very patient with me getting to this finished product.
This has been a great experience, thank you Yves!"

I would like to add, it has been a tremendous experience for me too, working on this song with James, who demonstrated a great level of flexibility and understanding along with his great skills. I'm grateful for the patience, advice and guidance he provided all along.

It's great when one gets to work on a song with an artist he/she admires. This is what happened to me. I'd like to thank once again James, for this wonderful experience.

Thank you so much for checking out this song. JD was the main inspiration, the melody was going around my head whole day since I had heard it the first time acapella (and even without any instruments recorded along, JD's voice alone is just terrific).

I didn't have a chance before Sigmund, but I have been listening quite a lot on your last work "Love of My Life". I love it, it's very nicely done and it's in a style I like very much in general.

i dig it
at first i wasn't sure what to think. unless you're george jones or al green i don't much like speaking over music. but then after the intro...the vocals blew me away. And musically there's so much going on, it's like a circus but no one sound steps on any other, everything has a place. very cool tune, great happy vibe, really enjoyed it kids.

Excellent work here you two. I would have to agree on the Van Morrison comparisons. The horns kinda jazzin it up in the background really seemed to push it in that direction. Very cool second look at this song idea. Has a very different flair from the original one. I would lose the voice over at the beginning or at least condense it to one line

But at the end of the project, he let me hear it. It's a great track, and it's indeed interesting how both tracks are different. You know...
I got a huge Van Morrison vibe from this tune. Not necessarily the vocals, but the smooth rock instrumentation. It has a kind of early 70's blues rock mood that only a few bands could successfully pull off.
Great performances, really nice solo section. It can be challenging to play a faster solo with a clean tone. Thumbs way up

Your feedback. It's quite interesting, actually I don't know much from Van Morrison but I'm happy that the music, even if it's unaware, got a comparison point. To tell you honestly, I'm still trying to determine my sound. The music of this song has been inspired by James (jdholliday, an amazing artist at MJams), who created the song's lyrics and main theme. The rest was just a following for this initial inspiration.

I think your assessment is very correct. I am still trying to gain experience for proper recording and mixing. In addition, as the initial version was quite slow, we had to adjust the tempo and then do the final mixing jointly. I think during all these steps, the audio quality suffered a little bit.

Yes, it's true. After the references were made, I checked Van Morrison and a particular song that was referred, it's true that this sounds like it. James' vocals are the heart of this song indeed, the rest being an attempt to reflect the mood and the message he wanted to carry through the song. Indeed, I played the guitars, bass and the synths here. Vocals are James of course and he also did all the effects on vocals. Honestly I liked the vocals and at some other parts the delaying effects sounded great to me. The mixing were done jointly. It wasn't an easy project, my initial orchestration was on a slower pace, which we needed to change - it was quite challenging to make fit all pieces in case of a tempo change but along the way, it was a great experience. 	You're totally right Indeed, the production was quite a challenge, we had to make quite a number of changes and added to this, my limited skills on mixing really didn't help.
