Lyrics
Happily I go
Creeping up to your door
I’ll look into your bedroom window
I’ll get a real good look at you

I guess I’ll creep and sneak
I’ll just play hide and seek
I guess I’ll take a peak
I’ll just play hide and seek
I gotta reason or two or three

But there's a man I know sitting next to you on the floor
I saw him through your bedroom window
I know what he just did to you
How can it be true? Watching him make love to you
I see it through your bedroom window
I don’t want to look at you

Chorus

Solo

Bridge

My anger ignites I want to crush him with all of my might
I’ll jump right through your bedroom window
I’ll get him for what he just did to you
Then it will be done and you and I can have our fun
We’ll close the shades on your bedroom window
So no one can see what I’m going to do to you

another good song
How many tracks on this song? I'm guessing at least 8.
The mixing on your songs is often real nice. I may start a
forum thread about that. I feel very under equipt to mix
my own songs. Do you mix the songs yourself?

love the guitars
this song has sort of "performed in the radio station's
studio live" vibe -- not quite a live performance, but not
quite a phil spector/george martin studio quality either.
reminds me of mid-to-late period beefheart, but that
could be just the guitar solo. (which i liked, despite some
technical missteps... but it showed a lot of passion,
especially at the climax and sounded "real" and not "pro-
tooled". anyway, i like the separation and panning of the
guitars... really like the interplay of the clean vs. dirty and
the nuances. did you record them mic'ed? or direct? i
can't tell for sure, but they sound kinda "garagey" as you
say, but good nonetheless. the bass i can tell is a GB loop
and that's too bad. drums are maybe too simple, but they
work with this song. i love the roomy reverb you added
for the bridge. the only main issue i really have is that the
vocal performance at times seems off - not necessarily
offkey, but a little off time or clumsy. probably something
that could be cleaned up with rehearsals and retake - as
you got sort of a bowie/somethingelseicantplace voice,
that sounds cool when it works. so make it work!
otherwise, good show!

love the guitars
Thank you. I like the guitar sounds I got, too. Yes, I did record them DI. As
I've said on the forums, I think -- with the proper eq and if you goose the
tone with a stompbox... you can get a decent guitar tone from the "British
Invasion" preset. Then, I doubletracked the solo with a phaser on the second
track. Wish I had access to real drums and real drumming skills. My main
drummer who's helped in the past has carpal tunnel now. Ouch. Thanks for
the compliments on the mix. Yes, I mix them myself in GB. For this one,
since I had so many guitar tracks (I think 5 guitars... plus 3 vocals plus drums
bass and keys...) I really made use of the panning feature. I hard panned the
rhythm guitars and then "placed" everything else in between it and center.
Only the main vocal and the guitar solo was dead on center. That helps a lot,
especially when you have a lot of competing freq. The result I'm pretty happy
with (I agree I need to redo the vocals probably) -- not Grammy-award
winning mix, but a decent mix for a demo, I think. Thanks again!!!!!

Excellent
Lust is a fine subject for an album. Are the rest of the
songs going to follow this story?
compyellow said 1784 days ago (January 8th, 2005)
Excellent
Yes! The other ones (the ones I did in garageband, that is) should fit in with
the same theme. "Can't Look Away" is about first spotting an object of desire;
"Let Me In" is about realizing you have a genuine crush on someone else than
the person you're currently with... "Turn Around" is about being rejected by
the crushee... and then I have others written but not yet recorded along the
same lines. Hopefully, if I get everything done, I'll have an album that takes
the listener through "love at first site" to "moving on with life." Two of the
others I'm really excited about, as I think structurally, they're my best... but
being too much of a perfectionist in trying to get them recorded.

Rock on!
Good rock song.

Just a few comments: those crash cymbals get a bit
repetitive. Try to get variation somewhere else. I'm sure
there are more drum loops.

Somewhere in the first half of the song the bass and the
bass drum are in each other's way. Do some EQing to
untangle them?

Oh, and that ending could be a bit less abrupt.

But overall a great rock song.

Ooh, love that guitar solo
As micjagsher says, it has a live feel to it, a sense of
being raw and natural - which is quite an
achievement since you've obviously worked very hard
on the mix. I'm in awe of your production skills and
the guitar sounds are truly wonderful. Perhaps the
vocal needs more self-belief in places: it sounds
great and full of confidence towards the middle.

Cool
I like the vocals. I'm reminded a bit of Edwyn Collins.

Gets a little rag-tag after the solo. But you bring it all
back together in the next verse.

Unique track. Great.

I'm 31 and have been playing guitar since I was 9. I really wanted to play the drums, but my mom wanted me to play church songs and Christmas songs, so I took guitar lessons. Didn't really like it at first. Then, in junior high, I discovered The R... [see more]
