Thank you all for taking the time to listen. I have had a few questions about the subject matter so I will answer them. This song is about the early passing of my brother's wife at the age of 24. She was such a sunny personality and the sudden nature of it was really difficult. I didnt want to just write another sad song so instead, I wrote this song with lyrics that have a mournful quality but with the spirit (in the music) that I was forced to face this with in order to give support to my brother. Our family was very close with her, in fact we went with them on their honeymoon to Cancun. As my song "Sarah" notes... life is a real short ride. Shorter still for some than others. On the studio monitors it sounds pretty darned tight. I couldn't really hear the stereo seperation on the other speakers. I like the transition that starts at about 1:40 or so. This song began as a diwali rhythm with a rap type edge to it that I made myself in garageband. Then just messing around, I put a simple piano progression in there kind of counterpointing the beat. you can hear it if you find the first version of this song that I posted on here. I knew that couldnt stay, it sounded very cheezy. My producer Jeff Cook heard it and liked it so he put together the backer you hear here. Actually he did 2 backers. Neither were exactly what i had envisioned, then I decided to use both backers and put them together, panning one to one side and one to the other. This gave a much more complex sound. Then I recorded 5 main vocal tracks over the top of each other and added 3 harmony tracks a week later and voila, here we are at present day. still think I may add something for a more organic component to the song, like an acoustic guitar. Gonna sit on this version for a bit before deciding where to go next. Thx for the feedback! Check out my latest song called The Devil's Argument :P

Great recording I do prefer this to the other version, although there's no denying the great tune underneath regardless of the treatment. The bright feel of the tune belies some seriously dark lyrics which I love; it just takes you by surprise. There is no chorus on the vocals What you are probably hearing is a real chorus of vocals. I recorded 5 vocals over each other for the entire song. Then added 3 harmony tracks. It may sound better to bounce down the 5 vocals together and then use it as one track. I will experiment with it a bit. This version is a very approximate mix. Yeah That would be nice but my computer isnt that old, it is a merom chip upgraded core duo 2 @ 2Ghz. More a matter of tons of high CPU usage effects used on the vocals. My new vocal plug is in great but it uses a lot of cpu cycles. Check out my latest song called The Devil's Argument :P

Awesome I heard this song a few days ago, but commenting from my phone is nearly impossible! Aha, I knew the chorus harmonies would complete this song. I loved it from the first version & it kept getting better, but now I can say that it sounds complete. The harmonies just pull it together so well. I can hear this playing on the radio! Terrific work Charles, I'm glad you worked on this until you were totally satisfied. You are, aren't you? I sure am, great stuff! A big chorus!!! Wow, your melodic gift is in full force here. You really worked out an interesting and textured vocal arrangement that keeps you listening. I like the line about the morning dove's wings making the only sound. Listened 2x just now. Love how you slowed down the pulse heading into the choruses--beautiful. I'm not a big fan of that synthy delay arpeggio that shows up 1:35ish heading into Chorus 2, but what do I know. Good Autotuning(tm) too! I have to admit, I kind of enjoy the semi-robot sound. unable to let go great anthemic pop song charles. i see thousands of spectators swaying from side to side with their lighters above their heads. ad agencies are crying out for stuff like this. love how the lyrics are part of the rhythm of the song (well i would say that). fantastic harmonies. fantastic track....a real gem. Nice Work That is a great catchy tune! The only comment I have is that some of the instrumentation has a 'toy' or 'electric' quality...kinda synth pop-ish. All the elements are there and very nicely arranged. I would beef up the instruments a bit...drums and bass to start...give the song some umph. Thanks I agree, the soundbed is the part of the song that isnt finished. This is my mix from Jeff's first edition backer. I overlayed the bass guitar subtly into it.
