frippertronics: experiment #3

Get Flash to see this player.

Description
3rd and most successful attempt yet at getting that frippertonics guitar sound

guitar sounds were realised by using a variety of software distortion and delay plugins - this time a totally different array effects than those used on version one and two. i focused mainly on the guitar rig 4 software using the rig kontrol as a volume pedal to automate the volume swells. i also used the 'harmonic synthesiser' effect in guitar rig - and i think that got me the closest to the distinctive 'square wave' distortion sound yet (i believe fripp also used a harmonizer of some kind)

this then went thru the digital delay on logic audio's pedalboard effect

these are all new guitar sounds not used in version one or two

if anyone wants to use this and future frippertronic experiments in a piece of their own, feel free to - just drop me a note in the comments on here to let me know

fripp sounds
I'm not sure about the opening sound, but the one at 0:17 is spot on.

Dreamy track otherwise.

Wind on wind
Very familiar sound on this one! Maybe you should get the Revox corporation (is there still such a thing??) to re-release their machines in a limited edition with your name on them....
I admire your tenacity in this venture (2:13 is especially right). Add "scholar" to your CV.

Relaxing
I'm lost in meditation without thinking about it. Same effect Fripp/Eno always had on me. You are getting there Bryn. Only thing I miss are those really high pitch notes Fripp use to add sparsely.

Closing in on it Bryn
I think it's about tempo and slow transitions - with some analog deterioration that gets closer. 1:52 seems to hit a familiar Frippy moment for me. Very nice. Have you consider using Augustus Loop? You must have.

Frippin' 'eck
You got it right here. I must investigate the Guitar Rig, as I've been fascinated by Frippertronics since forever. Now you need to get a pal to dress up as Eno and play the spoons. Let's hope Mr F decides to distribute music here (perhaps using a Particledots rig!)
