Description

This a guitar solo piece I composed. I made this guitar (I've only made 4 or 5 so the guitar is not an Andre Segovia model.

I installed abalone inlay around the body facing and an abalone tree of life. I have a deep respect for those crafts people that do abalone work. I don't mean diving, that too but making those precise cuts in the fretboard to get the abalone to hug tight. That is tuff to do!

I don't know if you'll catch it, but see if you can hear a little Classical Gas infuence. I can play that piece but I don't want to upload it because it is commercial.

Very nice
Nice complex guitar work there. The only thing that bugs
me is that parts of the melody sound almost exactly like a
very famous guitar melody that I can't seem to remember
the name of right now.

I'm impressed with anyone who can build a functioning
guitar. I once made my own electric when I was taking a
woodshop class years ago. It has since been stripped for
parts.

A little Classical Gas influence
To: pgreenstone

I was influenced by Mason William's Classical Gas.

There is a little structure of it in there. I pulled a few other
of my own original pieces influences as well.

I did upload a picture but I received a message stating
that there was an error and that they are trying to take
care of it.
I will try again and see if I can add the picture.

I wonder what you'll compose when you build the guitar of your dreams.:) Great playing. If you ever make it to PA, you must take the tour at the Martin Guitar Factory in Nazareth, PA. In spite of some of the hi tech machinery they use to produce their guitars, the mother-of-pearl inlaying is still done by hand. I'm sure you would love chatting with these artisans. It's really cool to walk through and hear the artisans "testing" the product.

I did visit an acoustical guitar factory in Monterey Ca. it was very interesting.
I don't make any now, I used quite a few tools to make the one I play. There
are some real fine craftsmen that use very few tools and make masterpieces.
You wonder how they do it.

I miss very much the guitar I had years ago, it was a Ramerize Guitar, it was
fairly expensive but it sure had a nice tone. It was an Andre Segovia model.
But it blew off my truck going down the highway:) and I never saw it again!

Thanks, I enjoyed playing it. Mason Williams, I think wrote one of the best
instrumentals of that era i think. There really isn't a whole lot of the CG in
there but I like the drive of it and you can get into an almost flamingoish
feeling kind of going in and out of an E cord to and Am and the things that
those cords can give birth to. There are a few runs that are similar to my tune
"Away We Go" as well.

Bill,

I didn't vote on this one because I didn't want to bring
down your score. I like the composition. But the recorded
sound and the technique could use some improvement
IMHO.

The recorded sound is hollow and tinny. And the noise
floor is high enough to be distracting. Better mic(s) would
make all the difference in the world. What kind of
interface are you using between your mic and the
computer? Any preamp?

Your technique suffers a bit in this piece as well. Just
sounds a little ragged around the edges and thin,
especially, the trebles. Maybe some more practice to
polish things up and bit. And maybe a better nail angle
on the trebles.

Hope you take this as constructive criticism. I like a
number of your pieces, and I think with some work, this
one could be added to the list.

	Can't get enough... You can come and play guitar in my band anytime you want. Well... I don't have one at the moment except for the virtual Postludes Trio. But, nonetheless... by the way, I love the way you slip in little snippets of songs from the sixties (Tommy in an earlier piece and now a litlle Mason Williams?). Cool. Beautiful. Jack

	NICE I can identify the classical gas influence, but this is superbly rich in it own right
