Description

I honestly don't care what people think of this or what they have to say about it. People could give me lip for using AutoTune again [and not even quite as well] but I wouldn't care. For me, this song was a pure dish of therapy with a side of synthesizers. My rant: boys, or more like a specific one. I started this song this previous Tuesday afternoon and it's been the main thing keeping me sane the past couple days. Hopefully y'all appreciate something about it!

We have all been there girl! Ignore the autotune comments, people on this site are anti autotune. I think it is a musician thing, they see it as cheating or something I think. Anyway, this a very pretty melody you have here. Your voice is very intimate sounding. Very Enya with a little dance vibe mixed in. Always be true to what you want to do as an artist. Don't let what others say sway you from where your passion is. I have liked your last two posts with autotune. Keep up the good work.

There is something here
I can't put my finger on what it is - but there is something kinda hypnotizing about this.
I don't know whether it's the lyrics, they synth textures, your voice - but whatever it is; it sounds good.

Oh, just one thing - please fix the cutoff at the end.
You've built this whole nice soundscape around the me, and then you kinda kicked me out at the last second.

But all in all, this sounds pretty good!

Thank you! The lyrics were very personal for me. There's meaning behind every line, and some lines even have multiple meanings. I'll have to say though one of my favorite lines would have to be this:

"You need to make a choice
Damn well keep with it"

It just helps me feel a little bit stronger inside and out, and if I feel like trouble's coming for the two of us, I just need to remember that.

Thank you! I find it funny though how my better stuff is the stuff I didn't necessarily plan out in advance. I just randomly get an epiphany moment and start going away at it on GB and BOOM! I have a great piece! For instance, The Scarlet Letter was done in than 12 hours because it was a school project I had procrastinated... lol This one came out in less than 48 hours. And Lonely came out but in a week and a half but it would have been sooner had I not been lacking time for recording the vocals. And glad you like my voice! Thanks for the feedback and for listening!

	Autotune is really just another instrument when it's used creatively. I'm no lover of Autotune normally but you've pushed it so far here that it's created an extra texture which works well within the context of the song. Nicely arranged and put together. Can't imagine
why anyone would get antsy about creative use of Autotune. Here it's used to great effect and lends texture and interest to the composition. One may as well complain that we all use computers to put our compositions together or that our analogue modelling synths are "fake".
I really like your synth backgrounds here, they have a delicious Tubeway Army feel.
Overall a hypnotic and original piece well worth repeated listens. Great stuff.

Yep, I'd say so! But I'll figure something out someday, whether it means the happy ending with him or being able to move on. (Somehow I doubt either will happen, but I'll still stupidly hope for one or the other.)

Its still all music created to either get a message across or to entertain. Using auto tune is only like using a keyboard that will play a chord with one finger over a piano. The bloody thing still plays a chord. Music is great what you create will spark with some and not with others. So write what makes you happy or sad who cares it all gets thrown Into the big bucket we call macjams. I enjoyed your piece.

Okay, I put off commenting because I was one of those people giving you lip on the last one about the AutoTune.

The fact is I think this song is great. It has a hypnotic groove. The synth sounds you chose and the way you arrange them are great. The whispery spoken/sung chorus is great (wanting waiting always losing never getting). The spoken word section at 3:09 is great. The production and mix are very good, probably your best to date. Sometimes the vocal clips a tad (4:26). But's that's a minor technical issue that most of us (myself included) battle. All in all this is great work and you should be proud of it.

I'm just not an AutoTune guy. I think it takes your wonderful human voice and removes too much of the humanity from it. But like I've said before, "I'm very old!"

That's fine, I'm happy that you at least gave it a listen!

And thank you, I love synths. I can't ever seem to stay away from them! And the "wanting waiting wanting waiting always losing never gaining" part was kinda fun to do, especially with the telephone effect, while mixing in a little of my own. I'm still getting there recording-wise, but slowly getting there all the while! (Especially when I think about the crap I made like four years back! No one has even heard that stuff! lol) So thank you!

I'll probably find a balance for now of using AutoTune and my normal. I like my voice but the Autotune is a fun phase I'm going through for now. But aside from the AutoTune part, I think I have finally found my little niche for music. I guess you could say I'm a pop/rock/techno kinda person, and I think I finally found a balance that I like.

All in all, thank you for giving it a chance an giving me feedback! Greatly appreciated! :)

	Geez... After the opening salvo in your description I'm a little apprehensive about commenting! Ha ha... But I have to write something... Gotta tell you that I really enjoyed your effected vocal delivery in this piece. Very cool! The "wanting...waiting" chorus provides a nice change-up. The speaking parts work well too. PS:
I see I'm in the minority on the AT. You DO have a gorgeous voice and don't really need to rely on effects; but sometimes it's fun to use them in certain types of tunes. I effected my vox in "Book Of Days" and took a little heat for it. You can't get everybody to agree on something like effected vocals. Never will. Best thing is to stick to your guns if YOU like the way it sounds.

I completely agree! And despite the fact that I'm stuck with him in Drama this semester, there's at least another cute guy in that class that may have taken a liking for me and additionally a guy that makes me laugh all the time in my most stressful class! All in all, it's gonna be a better school year!

We are all bad. Evil, in fact put us down and walk away. That's what I told my daughters and my house was still filled with those danged young testoserony phoney ballonies. So I started to show them my gun collection and talk about the different ways of gutting fresh kill while fingering the blade of a Bowie knife. It brought hormonal harmony right quick.

Oh, the song . . . well you always present professional material and always something I find interesting and catchy. In addition AT or no AT you are a talented vocalist and producer, so please no more apologizing and do whatever you please. That fact that it also pleases others is affirmation. There will always be dissenters, which if they are polite, help us grow, and if not, they can be ignored.

But as a Dad I'm still inclined to say shoot every male that would expose but not propose and laugh at those that do (politely of course).

How did I miss this?!?!

Jess, you are wise beyond your years. The proof is in the lyrics. Boys, yes I can totally relate. It's as if they live on a separate planet in their own mind! Luckily they come a dime a dozen, always remember that.

I really like the usage of AutoTune on this piece. It gives the song a haunting feel, makes it more personal. Keep venting through song, it's working big-time!

Haha, it's ok! Life in general gets busy, and then when you include the life on MacJams, it gets really busy!

Loved this!
Very heartfelt vocals without being "soft". You have a great voice and the production on this is superb. There's a dark vibe that underpins all this that I like and it's relentless without being harsh or in your face too much. The "wanting waiting" bit is a cool twist and keeps it fresh. Could hear this on MTV! Great tune. p.s. knackers to those autotune bashers! Doesn't matter a damn.
