Description
September 1st M2 wrote: stuck something called "I wish I was Robert Smith" in the POD. very rough, needs arranging and MIDI needs to be fixed as I did it on the laptop keyboard while watching Dora Explorer with Sophie. title comes from the fact that he needs to sing it. Do you think I need to add in a chorus section or just alter the melody at some point. just supposed to be a weird clanky song.

September 1st Bud wrote: 'Kwik Smith Vox' - Pinhole fast fun – just a sketch in the box. Dig the song michael.

September 1st particledots wrote: 'smithR' in the pod with additional vocals and monotron

A few hours and file swaps later 'Deeper The Well' was finished...

From Bud: While listening to the early mix of what was then titled "Wish I Was Robert Smith" I was immediately moved to dash off some lyrics and sing. I was at the dining room table at the moment so I went with the pinhole mic. I'm no Robert Smith - but I didn't let that stop me.

From M2: Bryns monotron bass bits really make the song for me. i love how they just bend and flitter about. some of that bass track reminds me of my old Roland SH101. think that was a good purchase Bryn.

From particledots: michael's track seemed like a great opportunity for me to try out my recently purchased Korg Monotron, a stylophone-like synth but with some tremendous sounds. Michael's track was great, kevin's vocal track was inspiring so it was easy for me to also add a layer of backing vocals. This came together quickly

Michael 2: Initial song, drums, circuit bent casio, office furniture, bird tweets, song art, final mix and almost everything else except the kitchen sink
Kevin: lead vocal
Bryn: Korg Monotron ($59 from Sam Ash), choir backing vocals

OK - I'll go first
These guys rock. Anything Michael touches has spot-on style and structure. And Bryn - well there's no better ear and adventurous player out there in my book. He wields a mean blender too. All I had to do was open my mouth on this one. We took the summer off - but it's great to be back (in the eighties) lol.

yup
i had a blast doing this one. usually I start with music and vocals and then build drum tracks. this started off as a drum track that I knocked off on my laptop at work during my lunch break, then the music came next. reminded me of the Cure when it was just a drum and synth track, and then it turned into Will Oldham fronting the Talking Heads. Thanks for a fun time boys.

sideways music... it sneaks into parts of my brain I didn't know I had. Love the quirky aspect of this. Well constructed, with just the right minimal bits.
