Description
I heard one of Andrew’s posts a while back, a great blues song, and thought he could help me fix up one of mine. I sent him an old sound bed which was pretty pathetic, but he saw the song’s potential, and offered to redo it from scratch. He went into full production mode and called in some elite troops. He cut a path for the others with a new rhythm track, and Mike was the first to jump in with his drum track. Then Rich got back from Scotland, ready to make music, and sent in an organ track along with some ideas for piano. Chris made his bass track, and Andrew started with getting him and Mike’s drums blended together nice and tight, and the song basically developed on top of what they had. Sigmund had sent in a real scorching guitar solo, and it fell into place perfectly. Once these guys got started it didn’t take long for the drop box to fill up. Everyone thought they could improve their last take, and we had multiple tracks to choose from. My job was easy. All I had to do is sing on top of what they built. And it was pretty impressive watching these guys work, kind of like being in the NASA control room the day of the launch. They’re all very technical and meticulous musicians who know how to present their art. Andrew and I thought about female BGV’s but went with the rough touch. I had sent him some harmonies, and he was able to use most of them on top of his own and Chris’. John was the final musician and gave us his piano, a touch that I’d always wanted for this song. I was very happy with it. The whole process went pretty smoothly, and I think the only crisis we had was near the end where we accidently dumped all the tracks. We were able to restore them though, and our tune made it safely to the launch pad.
Andrew (alackbass) is the ringleader and master mixer here, (Garage Band 9) and I’m real happy and appreciative of his talent and hard work on this song. And the same big thanks to Mike Watkins (kevmikwa), Rich Gray (rgpaddler), John Libby (ktb), Chris Flynn (rok41), and Sigmund (sigmund).
The “Zoners” are:
Terry Pearson: Lead vocals
Andrew Lack: Rhythm guitar and vocals
Mike Watkins: Drums
Richard Gray: Organ
John Libby: Piano
Chris Flynn: Bass and vocals
Sigmund: Lead guitar
And thank you Karen (Magnatone) for your critical ear, and tips for the polishing touch.
Hope you all enjoy it. Peace. Terry

Lyrics
Well I spent my life a wanderin’
And I move from town to town
I’ve been called a no count drifter
And it’s time I settle down
But I gotta roll
Mmmm, them wheels gotta roll
I’ve been places I should not be
But I don’t follow trouble
It follows me
Well I know some of the ladies
And I’ll see them by and by
And if one’s a bit peculiar
It’s sure to catch my eye
But I gotta roll
Mmmm, them wheels gotta roll
In the streets I’m known to roam
But my heart stays parked
In the Loading Zone
There’s a place right on he road map
I circled it with my pen
A little town by the name of Muldrow
And I think I’ll go back again
While I’m on a roll
Mmmm, them wheels gotta roll
I fell in love at a football game
And you know two hours later
I still knew her name
I told her “Baby, you drive me crazy!
Can I drive you home?
We’ll dance to love tunes. Under a fat moon
No one should be alone.
Don’t you let me get on that road
Without your number and area code”
You know it’s hard to hit a moving target
Cupid’s aim is usually high
But now and then I tend to slow down
And he’ll shoot me from behind
But, I’m still gonna roll
Mmmm, them wheels gotta roll
In the street’s I’m known to roam
But my heart stays parked
In the Loading Zone
And I move from town to town
