Little Clues

Description
Here's one I posted back in 2005 but then removed. I recently remastered it, so I figured I'd repost to reopen old wounds (ha, ha). This tune comes from one of the duos I'm in, Downer Cow. I'm playing a Roland drum kit and the keys. Guitar, bass and vocals courtesy of my collaborator, Nuclear Chicken. The GB file got corrupted a couple years back, so I can't fix the mistakes; however, i'd still appreciate constructive criticism. Thanks for listening.

Lyrics
You touch the sky,
You wonder why you’re still here.
Your jaded past
You’re fading fast but you’re still here

You’ve given up the mystery
You’ve given up the game
You got the moments memorized
They always feel the same.

Your little clues
Alluded to obliquely
And still the truth
Eluded you completely

You have given in to appetite
Given in to fear
Your soul is without solace
Your eyes are without tears

You gave it up to circumstance
You got the timing wrong
And when you finally had a chance
You left it for too long

You touch the sky
You wonder why you’re still here
Your wasted pride
You still got time, you’re still here

for some
reason, I'm reminded of a bass-heavy version of pink floyd. Very strong. I'd like the vocals to be a little higher in the mix, they're very strong, but sometimes get a little bit lost. Great work!

Downer Cow--what a sick band name! Great dark vibe to this. Vocal is wonderful and expressive.
Great drum and bass pulse driving this. Keyboards
open it up nicely. Cool post.

I really like this as it is, nicely mixed and balanced. This has a Concrete Blonde feel to it. Drums sound great, really enjoyed the splash hits. Nicely done.

Downer Cow, Corporal Beef and Nuclear Chicken
With a lineup like that how can it not be uber cool?

Unlike most Indie I've heard.

This is a really great song. I'm glad that I dropped by. The mistakes aren't noticeable. I think the production is pretty darned solid.

Yeah, It's awesome!

An unconventional chord progression and some interesting instrumentation contribute to this cool and darkly mysterious piece. This is a real mood setter. It's probably better you can't fix the mistakes - I really didn't hear them anyway and "mistakes" often give a song character and style. Very cool - enjoyed listening!

These corruptions
even happen in Logic. I have a few pieces that I can not re-open. So I either post the work as it stood or pull up an earlier save and go back to work (ugh!). This stands by itself, but does beg for just a little something more to finish it. Looking forward to more music.

Downer Cow
Low and moody. I dug it. The only idea I had was for more drum variation. The 6th not riff got a little tired by the end, in my ear. I'd have preferred a new variation, with the same jerky moodiness but a new rhythmic statement that would make the whole thing perhaps even more compelling. I cool collab. Do you guys perform live? I see a performance art component, possibilities...

Very dark and dastardly. Really nice mix, I don't think I would have changed anything - even if the file wasn't corrupted. The bass is really great. The drums, particularly seem a little too clean and maybe, how do i put this, perfect I guess. The vocals are really well tracked and sit in just the right spot in the mix. Thx!
