Description
Lyric ideas for this came from a novel I was reading - "Patchwork Planet" by Ann Tyler. I just mixed a few characters together and came up with the two in the song. I heard James Black playing the riff on Rockwiz as a throwaway filler between songs, and made sure I recorded it so it wouldn't escape my failing memory. The jazzy descending section is cannibalised from another song I had in the works.
This was an obvious song for Mike Watkins (kevmikwa) to replace my rather average midi drum track - luckily he was available. Then I figured it was a song that could handle a growly clav sound under it, so asked John Libby (ktb) to add something. John is the fastest keys collaborator in the west (or east), and I was very pleased with the tracks he sent - which I then proceeded to change sounds on. His 3 electric piano tracks quickly became one B3 track, one Bosendorfer piano track and the smokey clav track. I'm playing guitars and bass.
BIG THANKS to John and Mike!

Lyrics
Cat-Faced Girl
©2010 Neil Porter
She was a crazy little cat-faced girl
He was a man that you could trust
She’d been looking everywhere
And she met him on a midnight bus
He was looking for angels
He was looking for someone to love
She was looking for trouble
City streets were full of trouble
Lungs were full of dust
He’d been looking everywhere
And she met him on a midnight bus
He was looking for angels
He was looking for someone to love
She was looking for trouble
INSTR
She came from somewhere down the road
She didn’t even pack
She’d been looking everywhere
And she wasn’t going back
He was looking for angels
He was looking for someone to love
She was looking for trouble
Short and sweet was what it was
Not much to discuss
She’d been looking everywhere
And she got back on the midnight bus
He was looking for angels
He was looking for someone to love
She was looking for trouble
