Description:
Muriel. She's emotional, she experiences the full range of emotions. She is the woman you can't get so you want her more...or atleast want to understand her more.

Lyrics:
Muriel, What kind of woman are you?
Seems like since you went away,
your heart is still here
And all those guys that love to play
have been looking for you, my dear
Muriel, What kind of woman are you?
You fall for the guys that can’t settle down
Somehow in your mind, bad is better, now
You gladly pull out your chair
Pick up your napkin and wipe your own tears
Muriel, What kind of woman are you?
You get around town like Lili Marlene
Kiss ‘em goodbye and jump on a train
I wish you could teach me not to cry
To spread my wings and learn how to fly
Muriel, what kind of woman are you?

It keeps getting better. I really love the melody, both the
guitar and the vocal, and the lyrics. This could be a real
hauntingly sweet song. But I have to be honest. While the
singing performance has improved since the original
version, it still seems to be wrong for the song. I can just
imagine what it would be like with the right voice.
Normally, I wouldn't tell a person their voice is no good
for a song, because it's their song and it's probably better
to encourage them to keep working on it. But I really
don't think your voice will ever do justice to the wonderful
song you wrote. It's not about having perfect pitch, it's
more about the tone, the texture, the inflection.

Don't get me wrong. The song still moves me when you
sing it. I just hear a potential for it to be so much more
with the right voice.

Thanks pgreen...can't say it's for a lack of trying:) I totally know what you mean about the voice. I can hear how it should sound in my head and would love to get someone to sing it...any takers?

I'd love to take a shot at it. That said, feel free to tell me if MY voice sounds
wrong.

I think it would be great to give you a shot. I was searching for someone with
a gravel-blues voice, but I haven't listened to too many artists. What do you
think about the artist "dadai" on macjams.com. If you wanted to try it, what
would I need to provide you?

dadai has a very nice voice. Not the most solid pitch, but really nice. Actually
reminds me a little of a male version of SlimGirlFat. You should see if he'd
like to sing it. As far as what I'd need to take a pass at it myself, just a mix
without any vocals, or better, the GarageBand file. You can reach me on iChat
for a file transfer at "pgreenstone".

WOW &mdash 01/16/05 - 07:57:31 PM
...the lyrical content is phenomenal; it reminds me of a song from *Pulp Fiction* called "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon." The singer conveys a haunting quality and the melody elevates Muriel to such a level that the listener has no choice but to wonder what the deal is with this mysterious woman? A fabulous effort--and a singer I'd like to hear more often.

Peace!

I disagree ... &mdash 01/18/05 - 04:11:23 PM
... I like the eerie, offbeat quality of the vocals. They're not over-produced, giving the song a quirky, indie quality. Anything different & it will lose something. Love it, guys ~ especially the little melodic bridge in the middle.
